Good Dog Kibble Australia??
Hello!!
Was wondering if any of the Aussie members could help out with this question!
I am looking to find a good quality dry kibble for Duke. He is currently on Super coat puppy (was on that with the breeder) with some meat added one meal every day.
He seems to be doing well on the food, however I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a better quality food to get him? I cant find lots of the recommended ones on the forum in AUS
Thanks in advance!

Re: Good Dog Kibble Australia??
I found this online hope it helps:
Pets Paradise hold the market for many of the high quality brands like EVO, Innova and California Naturals.
EVO to my knowledge is the only 6 star dog food avaliable in Australia.
If you don't have access to Pets Paradise (or choose not to support them for ethical reasons like many of us) then Eaglepack hollistic and Canidae grain free are also good options.
I choose to feed my dog Canidae grain free, which has only recently become avaliable in the country.

Re: Good Dog Kibble Australia??
Thanks Cathy!, Pets paradise seems to be changing (all the ones near me anyways) they are now adoption centres and dont have a good variety of things. There is a mega pet warehouse near me which I am going to check out today as they are said to have a good range of food and also have a butcher section.

Re: Good Dog Kibble Australia??
I found it so hard to find good brands in australia, but after reading s bit about it i think all the ones already mentioned are good. Another one is earthborn grain free, which i use! You can get it at petstock or online! It has 5/6 stars at the petfoodadvisor website.
I think evo is the absolute best but hard to find, its the only one available here that has 6/6 stars, please buy online and not at pets paradise though. The reason your stores are changing is because another company has opened instead, petsco, they work with rescues and pounds to rehone shelter animals. Pets paradise is closing down because people are realising that their puppies come from the worst puppy factories there is and live in horrible conditions.

Re: Good Dog Kibble Australia??
I was feeding Steff this one which I found ok for a cheaper and readily available dry food, it is available in Woolworths so it was handy and quite cheap. I'm no expert on dry food though so if someone more experienced can check out the ingredients that would be good.

Sorry I cant find the list of ingredients but I will post them when I am at home as we still use these for treats

Re: Good Dog Kibble Australia??
I used that and found it good for Steff but obviously it isn't recommended.. Steff had a lot of skin problems and hairloss and it was great for that I feed raw now and it is going well at the moment so hopefully won't need to go back to dry foods

Re: Good Dog Kibble Australia??
Hi Kylie - I agree, there isn't much dry food information around for us people at the bottom of the world! (and I know around where I am accessing a good variety of decent dry foods isn't the easiest task either!)
We were on Royal Canin .. pretty pricey ($56.00 for 2.5/3kg bag) however it is a good dry food and comes in a grain free version. I found that Chiquito was getting an upset tummy on it though.
After lots of research, discussion and working out what was readily available around us, we have just changed this week to Hills .. it came well recommended from several vets, our breeder and people at puppy preschool/the local obedience club ... so far Chiquito loves it (it is about $38.00 for 3kg)
Hope that helps some

Re: Good Dog Kibble Australia??
It's funny, Hills are always recommended by vets, although it isn't really a good food - far too much cereal for my liking & the meat content is low & poor quality.

Oh don't tell me that ... it took me ages to decide on a food
Ah well, ignore my Hills comment Kylie, I am off to see if I can find another one to try
Thanks Caryll (.... any thoughts on Royal Canin or the others mentioned in this thread that you may have - most listed in the forum are not relevant for us here in Australia and apparently my sources are a little dodge ....??)

Re: Good Dog Kibble Australia??
I am using Advanced Growth Puppy which I find my boy does well on. Another dry feed that I have discovered is Canidae, it is a premium holistic kibble that has no grains. Neither are inexpensive but after owning Staffords for more than 20 years I have discovered you get what you pay for.
I also feed a RAW diet along with the kibble.
Cheers

I think Vet's generally recommend Hill's because that is what they sell and not because it's a good food. (Most vet's have their prescription diet range).
