My angry time for today
Took the kids out at lunchtime to a good walk along a disused railway line not too far from my house. Always clip them on when we get to the bends in the line as other dogs can come on quite quickly and Tommy has good long distance eyes these days
Anyway in the distance I see this little brown dog , so hang back a bit waiting for the owner to come along , never happened. By now I've realised this dog is wandering loose , little jack russel / poss sbt cross but keeping his distance. Try to get a little closer see he has no collar on and start getting a little concerned for him , shouting hello , hello anyone looking for a brown dog (there are various paths off the line to the back of housing estates etc so maybe the owner is around looking but no response)
So I now have a big problem as don't want this little fella wandering by himself but as Tommy is a little unpredictable I don't want to get closer in case he comes to say hello and gets hurt. Followed him for about another half mile until I come across an old couple who I tried to get to help , threw Tommy's canny collar to them and if they could get him on then I have 2 double ended leads so could still get him (with their help ) to the local pub and get him picked up, photos FB etc , that was the plan. They were very half hearted about it (obviously not big dog lovers ) never managed and give me the collar back , dog turned back and followed him (prob 3/4 mile back by then) little fella took a turn up path and past a bloke cutting wood in the sidings and hung around him . When I got to the bloke he said oh he's ok he's mine , explained that I found him and trailed him for the last 1.5-2 miles and the wan1er just turned round and said oh , ok thanks he doesn't normally wander that far just far enough so he doesn't have to listen to my chainsaw.

What a Numpty, you try and do the right thing and thats all you get for it. if it wasnt for the love of dogs it would prob make you think twice before doing it again.

Re: My angry time for today
That chainsaw would have came in very handy for dealing with people like that.
Well done though Dave for putting the effort in mate

Well done you for helping him out People are quite stupid with their dogs today, I saw a dog wandering round the busy roads today too - then the owner called it back in after someone beeped their horn at it

I think you did quite well for keeping your cool with him tbh. If the dog doesn't like the sound of the chainsaw why on earth does he take the dog with him, muppet

Well done Dave, you did the right thing. The guy was lucky that his dog didn't end up in a pound, or worse. And I expect that he either doesn't know or doesn't care that it is illegal to have a dog in a public place without a collar and identity tag.

Good for you for trying to help him. Some people are so irresponsible and careless though. For a start, if the dog doesn't like the noise of the chainsaw, he shouldn't be out there while it's on. Also, what kind of owner lets their dog just wander off on its own?

Good on you for doing the right thing!
The amount of dogs I have followed around to get them home and with no thanks from owners.
A couple of weeks ago I picked up a lost jack russell, Maxi was with me and she is DA. Even though I had a double ended lead I had to carry him since Maxi was not happy with his presence and tried to bite him when he first came up to us but I managed get him by tying Maxi to a tree and chasing the jack russel in the park like a crazy person. I carried him all the way home with my dog jumping on the side (even a jack russel gets heavy after a couple of km). Get back to my house and my neighbour comes out and it turns out it is his dog, but no thanks no nothing. If it wasn't for my love of dogs I would stop doing these things, unfortunately the owners rarely deserve the help and responsible owners rarely loose their pets.
But I'll keep on doing it because if I ever would loose my pet I hope other people will go through the same effort to get her home to me!
