Yellow Ribbons?
Hi, I was in the vets t'other day and there was a poster on the wall stating that if you see a dog on a lead with a yellow ribbon on the lead, then this means that the dog needs space, wether its behavioural or rehab etc.. have you seen this and are people wearing the ribbon on their leads? do other recognise this and keep away?
Its a good idea if lots of people do it or recognise it.. I certainly would put one on my lead.
Its a vets in Leeds.

Re: Yellow Ribbons?
I have heard of this before but only through another member posting here on the forum, things like this are usually only effective if people are aware of them. Maybe then we just all need to be a little more aware:

Re: Yellow Ribbons?
I heard it on the forum. But yes, great idea. However, I don't think anyone will even look at them.

Like Kathy said it would be a great idea but only if people were aware of it

Re: Yellow Ribbons?
I have heard if this but never seen one. I don't think enough people know about it to notice. I like the colour coded collars better then, but still hard to see on a distance, and I think most people just do not pay enough attention.
I actually have a "no dogs" collar but haven't used it much, but will put it on when we go to the vets etc

Re: Yellow Ribbons?
There are a few things similar to it, and it could work if people were aware of it, but you'll always have the idiots that don't care.

Never seen this, and wouldn't have known what it meant. Needs a mass advertising campaign, like those public information films we used to get on tv

Re: Yellow Ribbons?
Yes definitely a good idea in theory.. maybe one of those hats you buy in Blackpool, instead of 'Kiss me quick', could have 'keep dogs away'?!?! They would be very effective but also quite cool...x

Re: Yellow Ribbons?
So is it a new initiative that someone has brought out? I have read the other post and that was only in the last couple of weeks too..

Re: Yellow Ribbons?
I'm not so sure that yellow ribbons will work. People aren't likely to look for a ribbon tied to a lead.
The colour coded collars/harnesses have a better chance because they have words on them, but it all depends if the owner of a dog is near enough to read them!

Re: Yellow Ribbons?
They do kind of defeat the object - stay away but get close enough to read the collar/lead...

Re: Yellow Ribbons?
in theory it's great but with me having a human aggressive dog and telling people to their face do not touch him, and they still do....
People just don't have a clue

Re: Yellow Ribbons?
I prefer the friendly dog collar/harnesses - cause it's very much in ur face.
Tank wears the Friendly one on occasion when Diesel is wearing the elperro harness. They are good.

They are widely used at agility competitions as are the vests.
