Yellow Ribbon Dog

Maybe i am late to the party with this but I have opnly just come across it. I think it is a brilliant idea and would urge anyone who owns a DA dog, old and grumpy dog or whatever, to use one.

Any thoughts??

I love the idea unfortunatly it doesn't work in practise and people only ignore it anyway

But surely it is only a matter of awareness. I agree that some dog owners (who shouldt be) will ignore it.

It would be great if it did work and everyone knew about it and took notice....

there has been a massive campaign on it and to do with DA dogs, and people quite frankly don't care

I'd not heard of this before, will know now if I see one what it means, thanks for sharing

in fact look at this way, chance is human aggressive and even if i physically tell someone not to approach or try to fuss him, people still do and then wonder why he snaps at them!

The idea is a good one but people will do what they please even if told so a yellow ribbon just isn't going to work i'm afraid

It's a great idea, but as Ella says, people just do what they want. People are idiots even if you wave it in their face. I'm sure it'll work with some/most people though, reasonable people, if there's more exposure.

Never been a fan myself, good idea but it isn't one that will make a difference, little like branded harnesses and leads Xx

If people looked at them they would be brilliant. But they would be like the coded harnesses, brilliant idea but the public don't look at them, neither do other dog owners from what I gather.

A great idea in theory, but again it comes down to people taking notice and being more aware of what is going on around them.

It's a brilliant idea I hadn't been aware of it, but I know from past posts about this type of thing that people just ignore them, which is a real shame.

Max is DA and PA as he suffers from a disorder, i had the problem of people constantly approaching him and/or letting their dogs loose around him.

someone on the forum recommended the harnesses/collars and leads. I got max a *training* one simply because it had a longer lead and truth be told it has worked wonders, i haven't had people approach him, sometimes i get the odd ignorant person but you get them everywhere,

for the yellow ribbon, Im not so sure on them as a lot of people could just see it as a nice little ribbon on your dog, but in saying that its always worth a try

its a great idea and has been around for a while but the uptake has been slow. its not just about DA but also about dogs that have just had surgery etc and need space. I hope it gets more widespread as I know two dogs that would benefit from it, fortunatly there seems to be alot of good dog owners around here that lead up when they see another dog on a lead so i guess we are lucky. but in principle its a fantastic idea
