tragic news!! Empty tragic news!!

Post by widnesbull Wed Apr 24 2013, 07:00

Just seen on the news a story of a 16month old boy malled by a staffie in bootle yesterday. ANOTHER CASE OF BAD OWNERSHIP!! the dogs owner should be locked up! If a dog shows any signs of aggression you dont keep it near your baby.. even a happy go lucky dog should never be left alone with a child! Nocked me sick :'(

Thats 3 attacks in as many weeks 1 of them fatal. Can we see staffies taking the same route as the American pitbull? Or a ban on all bully type breeds? Sad

Nah never happen IMO. There will eventually be a crack down on dog ownership in general but the previous breed ban made a total mess of everything and heightened problems. Then, future stupid legislations came in to try to justify the mistake made. Again, making it worse.

It'll not happen again IMO.

Take it your on about the dangerous dogs act.. wich in my opinion is a farce as this singled out certain breeds ie pitbull, dogo brazill. And dogo argantino correct me if im wrong but shurley any dog is dangerous in the wrong hands. Yes fair enough the ban on pits has lessened the underground fighting but now they just use staffs instead aswell as pitbull types.

Personally I feel it hasn't done a single thing to decrease underground fighting as it was always underground and will stay there. Bait dog theft if anything has blown through the roof in the past few years.

There are areas near me very well known for dog fighting, the Dangerous Dog Act is absolutely laughable to people like this. It only effects the public and scaremongers people.

There will always be another breed for trouble makers to move on too. If Alsatians were banned tomorrow for example, Belgium Malinois' etc would suddently become very popular.

I must admit i do see alot of pitbull types but can these be classed as a breed in this country wich in reality are usualy staff crosses eg staff mastiff has a real look of an american bully but then police seiz this and claim as a dangerous dog under the DDA? The mind boggles

No, they are always nearly 100% of the time just "type".

I do feel realy sorry for the breed.. if people realised how much of a good family pet they are they would not get the bad rep they are getting but, they are a good family pet but rarely go to family homes. More likely end up in the hands of junkies, gangs, teenagers on a power trip and dog fighters! I have read somewhere about a temperament test of all breeds and the APT was second only to chocolate labradore! Shows again these are only going to the wrong owners
