intolerance of raw meat
Has anyone heard of this before? My friend started feeding her dog raw after I told her about the benefits of this diet. She has tried a variety of meat all with the same result. Her dog is sick . Is it possible for a dog to have an intolerance of raw meat?

Re: intolerance of raw meat
Well it's possible that she changed over too abruptly and her dog's tummy is protesting! Any change to diet should be made gradually to allow the dog's tummy to adapt.
Having said that, I have not been able to get my dog to look at raw meat AT ALL, he just won't eat it, so it doesn't suit all dogs unfortunately.

possibly a reaction to one type of meat beef chicken lamb etc best to start on the lighter meats first chicken for example if making sick try another source lamb for example and see how that goes .
like pointed out some dogs may not seem to be intrested to start with but if you start gentle most dogs will move over to raw in a short time

Re: intolerance of raw meat
Is she feeding it correctly? ie with the right ratios of bone/meat/offal?
Many dogs are intolerant of one protein source or another, but very few are intolerant of all of them. The most common intolerance is chicken/poultry but there are others.
Why not suggest to her that she joins here & tells us exactly what she's done so far?

Its not a staffy she has so didnt think she could join. Thats why i posted for her. She has gone back to Baileys usual food , leave it abit then try again doing it gradually and one meat at a time

Re: intolerance of raw meat
definitely sounds like shes just tried giving every thing at once which will NOT end well!
An intolerance to all raw meat is very very very rare, intolerance to some whilst still rare it's less so
Tell her to start again, feed one protein until settled on it then add another in
