My dog won't eat dog meat
He will eat the biscuit mixtures, but when it comes to the dog meat, pedigree, butchers etc he wont touch it. Does he need the dog meat or will the bakers complete biscuit mixtures suffice?
Thanks in advance

Re: My dog won't eat dog meat
Not bakers! Its awful stuff! Its all rubbish with very little nutrition and I know of 5 dogs who've had stomach ulcers when on that rubbish. A complete food is fine for your dog, but something like james well beloved, royal canin or wainwrights is best. If you look in the health and nutrition section, there's a very good guide to the best dry food. If you'd like your dog to eat meat, try some raw meaty bones. I dont know many dogs who can resist that! Please rethink your choice of dry food though, bakers really is rubbish.

Re: My dog won't eat dog meat
Sorry, didnt mean to sound bossy or patronising. Just know its awful stuff for your dog. More additives than nutrition. Good luck. Hope you find a food thats good for your dog that he likes.

basicly you need to keep away from anything your local supermarket sells as the manufacturers pay a substady the supermarkets for them to sell there products.
the best way to look at is buy the best you can offord without it leaving you short.
a good food iv found is called pero and it can be bought for a good price online

Like wazza says the buy what you can afford without leaving yourself short.
I buy wainwrights from pets at home its £34 for a 15kg bag which lasts about a month and a half. Pets at home make this themselves so your not paying for any middle men.
Plus Blue doesn't trump anyway near as much on this food

Re: My dog won't eat dog meat
Thats good also I think I remember you said you can get a trail bag? Would be great if you have limited funds so you can test to see how your dog get on with it.
It is also important not to just change your dogs food as they have sentitive stomachs and need to be gradually weened off their old food to their new food.
When I changed Blue's food I think I replaced 10% of his old food with his new food every2 days until he had completely changed over.
The best test is too look at his stool, if its loose then don't add anymore new food until it starts to firm up then continue to add the 10%

Re: My dog won't eat dog meat
You all know my way of feeding - raw.
But no, if you're feeding a dry complete food, you won't need canned or pouched dog food. As the others say, please stay away from Bakers, there are so many colours/scents added (and they're not for the dog, they're for YOU) that they can cause allergies & upset stomachs.

Speaking of raw, i've done ALOT of research on that the last 2 weeks and its def the way I'm gonna feed Charlie. The health benefits are innumerable and it works out cheaper in the long run.

Re: My dog won't eat dog meat
With Dempsey he'd eat something a few times, then seemed to go off it. Until I tried him on raw Ox heart - he can't get enough of it & the bowl's licked completely clean every night. He also loves to eat raw kidneys, tripe and various things he shouldn't like books, shoes, table legs, bra's and pants!

You should tell your OH not to leave his bra and pants lying about....don't be blaming Dempsey, he is an angel.

ive used 'harringtons' from tesco and its fine Ive found ,and cheap, also Ive bought 'gelert' from tesco as well also finding it good both about £3 for 2 kg.i also agree that the mass produced supermarket dry foods, bakers, pal, pedegree, etc are full of additives ,poor ingredients, colorings etc.also the wagg dog food whilst cheap at around £10 per 15 kg,is full of wheat which isnt good for a lot of dogs an dlow in good protein ..ive used pero sbt mix which is good and delivered free at £19.99 per 12kg
