Success!! Empty Success!!

Post by millydood Sun Apr 21 2013, 05:14

After watching Louie like a hawk all day and constantly taking him outside we've had our first ever day without him messing inside.

Today is a completely different thing though. Yesterday was gorgeous sunny weather and today is cold and wet and it seems that Louie is a bit too precious to get his paws wet!! He's been taken outside a few times and each time he's stood at the door and then come inside and hid and pee'd. Oh well....can't expect miracles I guess.

Thanks for all the welcome messages and advice. Its been great and I'm feeling much more confident about house training Louie.

I've moved this to the Puppy Chat section so people will reply more to it Smile

Well done to you both, that's brilliant news Big Grin and don't worry about his accidents because of the bad weather. Loki used to pee on the step or stand inside and aim outside when it was cold and rainy Laughing

Thanks Tara. Still trying to work out this forum. I'm more used to groups on yahoo.

Its REALLY cold outside and Louie doesn't like the cold much but I'll just keep perservering with him.

Ah, just kick him out there anyway, he'll learn. And definitely if you repeat a command so he associates the command with going to the toilet. That way when it's cold and horrible, he'll go outside, go to the toilet quickly and then be back inside in the warm house. He'll get there, he's already getting the hang of it Smile

Thanks Tara I will be. I don't want to be standing out in the cold and rain with him lol My son put him outside when he pee'd inside and he just stood at the door and shivered. I think he'll soon get the hang of doing his business quickly when its wet and cold.

Hi kc I was despairing of that day ever happening but it finally has. Today has been different of course because of the cold but he's going to have to get used to that because it gets REALLY cold where we live and really wet!

I see that Duke was born on the same day as Louie!!!! Duke sure is a cutie.

What a random coincidence! It will be nice to see you posting and what the gorgeous Louie gets up too as they are exactly the same age!!

I'm sure the pups are extra sensitive as it was a heat wave when they were born. It has gotten a bit chilly here too! Yuk..I saw on the news the other day it snowed at the Ski Resorts here in VIC & NSW. Crazy for April!

Great news! still expect a few accidents though and dont be worried by them. sometimes they go through a brief period where they seem to have regressed back to doing it inside but soon snap out of it.
Both my two will wait untill their bladders are nearly bursting before going into the garden in the rain, and then they shoot straight under a bush. no problems going out the front door for a walk in the rain though Straight Face

I have recently learned that dog's will hover at the door when it's raining because it affects their ears... dog's hearing is so super that the pitter patter of the rain is awesome to them, so no wonder they don't like it.. Surprised

I used to have to carry Katy out because it was raining & shut the door behind me otherwise she would run straight back in. I would tell her she had to go before we could go back inside (soon got the idea) Big Grin

Hi everyone,

sorry to take so long replying to all these.

We've had several more pee free days. Its been great. We only have the occasional accident now which is great. Louie now knows that when he goes outside he has to pee and I no longer have to stand there with him every single time. Its been bloody hard work but we are getting there.

We are starting puppy school tomorrow. Oh what fun that will be lol
