Sudden change in behaviour
Hey guys just wanted to ask a quick question really to see if anyone else had any solutions.
We rescued Cassie in December and although she had been well looked after they had kept her in a cage for most of the day while they were out at work. I got rid of this straight away and let her have a bed and be able wander.
Her behaviour has been impeccable since we got her, although she doesn't like other dogs, with every person who has met her she has been fine, until 2 or 3 days ago when she has started being really aggressive toward people, mainly men, for no reason what so ever.
She tried to bite my dad the other day, and my uncle and then she went for me this morning and I don't know why.
She has plenty of walks, gets loads of attention paid to her, it doesn't make any sense.
She has been spinning on her butt a lot lately, and I didn't know if that was a sign of anything? She's been given worming tablets but still does it, she also tries to bite her back feet a lot.
Any help would be great before I take her to the vet if need be

Re: Sudden change in behaviour
She sounds like she's in a bit of discomfort.
What were you doing when she had a go this morning (and with your dad)? If she's spinning on her backside & chewing her feet she might need her anal glands emptying. You can do it yourself, but I wouldn't recommend it. It can be very messy & the smell is horrendous!

We weren't doing anything in particular, I let her out in the back garden to do her business, she jumped on on the low fence to see the neighbours who she is usually lovely to and started growling, I told her to stop and tapped her on the shoulder, literally no harder than swatting away a fly and she went for me

Re: Sudden change in behaviour
It could be that she is in pain somewhere on her body, quick trip to the vet should get it sorted.

I agree, I'd be going to the vet if she seems in any discomfort.

I would also recommend a trip to the vet. She may need her anal glands squeezed or be having pain from something else that is causing her to act out.

Re: Sudden change in behaviour
Agree with all the above, any sudden changes of behaviour should require an assessment by a Vet to determine that there is not a health related issue, though it does seem strange she is being aggressive toward males only. How long have you had her?

Re: Sudden change in behaviour
mmmh I'm have some doubts here myself. Sounds like she seems to be getting a little further up the ranking by snapping.. You got to get on top of that, or she will be keeping you all in your place and she will be ruling the roost. Any snapping in this house and Molly would instantly be in the dog house. If she was in any discomfort she would cower and whimper, may become snappy if you touched her sore spot, but it seems to be for no reason she is snapping. Just my opinion. Let us know how you get on..
