Naughty Duke ate iboprofen
Little bugger somehow got my handbag off a dining table and possibly ate 1 200mg tablet! We are at the vets now as it is very dangerous!! If anyone's dog ever does this please take them to the be ASAP I didn't know how bad it could be!! Will keep you posted I'm such a bad mother!!!

Re: Naughty Duke ate iboprofen
It happens, don't beat yourself up. A friend of mine's JRT puppy ate a pack of 20 cigarettes once...
Hopefully there is no problems. You have done the responsible thing getting straight to the vet

Thanks mat! You have made me feel a fraction better! He must be able to jump/climb higher than I imagined.. Only left him for like 5 mins! Urgh! He will be ok the vet said it is a fair bit under the amount that could really really damage his kidneys but could cause some stomach ulcers! So glad I didn't just wait and see how he was tomorrow!

Re: Naughty Duke ate iboprofen
That's great, a lot of the time when I think Logan has eaten something I later find it lying around the house floor somewhere.
Good news anyway that it was under the amount anyway.
Did the vet give him anything to take to help?

Re: Naughty Duke ate iboprofen
Yea the vet made him vomit and then give him ALOT Of charcoal tabs to absorb the rest if there was any and I have to give him another tablet in a few hours. I have to work Tmz so taking him to the vet for some babysitting! He's pretty happy ATM just shaking a little from the vomiting. Poor little bugger.
Just for everyone the vet told me the most dog accidents from pain relief happens from a women's handbag so be careful! Also they are less likely to eat the crap tasting non sugar coated ones. Just a little education from my experience for you all!

Re: Naughty Duke ate iboprofen
Thanks Andy, Robyn & Caryll they do happen, could be prevented tho, hence why i feel
very bad! I have searched high and low and cant find the one missing.
The vet said it was lucky he only got one and he should be fine. I'm
taking him back tomorrow for a visit which will keep me at ease while at
work.

Re: Naughty Duke ate iboprofen
Glad he's feeling ok. Little buggers, it only takes a second. As Mat says don't be too hard on yourself. If you were a bad mum you wouldn't be concerned enough to whisk him straight off to the vet.
A heater on in Oz ????
It's a positively tropical 9 degrees here in Aberdeen and the OH has switched the heating off 'cause it's too warm doing housework. Will just take her word for it. Me and the dog off out for a heat.

Re: Naughty Duke ate iboprofen
Thanks Jstaff & Reuben, I guess your right, I just really really love the little bugger and would hate something to happen to him expecially something i could of prevented...
I live in Melbourne so its a bit cooler down here its currently 11.9 degree's c, but the heater is a toasty 22 (added warmth with jumper and jeans, I hate being cold!) Plus duke was shivering, couldnt leave him like that now could I!
