skin tumor
Hi, my one year old staffy has (at least that is what Vet suspects) a benign skin tumor.
First it looked like a small pustule and the Vet said it is. We didin't touch it and we thought that it will pass. it has NOT. On the contrary, it is growing and now it looks like a nice pustule. big like a tumb nail. and it is hard.
have you ever had any experience with skin tumors? (I totally forgot the name of it, as I was socked, I must admit.)
Thank you for your time.

Re: skin tumor
No experience personally, no.
Has the vet given you an idea of what can/should be done?

Re: skin tumor
Moo had a benign tumor also and I must say I cried when I found out but benign is the main thing.
Now Moo would irritate hers and scratch it so it did take some time to heal, if she knocked it, it just bleed and just looked scabby. Not a pretty sight.
If you are worried I would pop back the vets and see if any tests need to be run, but honestly my vets said that they can be quite commen in younger dogs so please don't fret too much Xx

Re: skin tumor
The Vet gave us an antibiotic cream to see if it will not continue to grow.
If it does, then he will go under cosmetic surgery to have it removed.
will see.
I am a bit scared.

Please do , there are a lot of people on here that use the forum daily as a social thing rather than just somewhere to learn , vent etc and we all take these stories on board and look forward to the good news updates and give you the opportunity to speak to someone that loves their dog just as much as you love yours and go part way to understanding what you are experiencincg right now

Re: skin tumor
Vets do this sort of surgery a lot, and are very good at it! If it does need to be removed, they'll do a fine job of it, I'm sure!

Re: skin tumor
Hi guys!
just a little update on Vigo's condition.
Last week we went for the second opinion about the pustule. The second opinion is that it is a hygroma. We got a iodine based liquide and we are putting warm compresses on it. It is MUCH better now! it is almost all gone. Just a little mark with no fur on it.
However, we are not sure if it is because of that or something other, he got Demodex. :/ but we got something for that too.
I personally think that it's his immune system, because we got a new dog two months ago (Australian Cattle Dog) so maybe that was too big stress for him, so he got ill.
thank you all for your time and thoughts and love.
Kisses from us!
