Scars on Dogs...
As you all probably know, staffys love to play rough, and chase is no exception to that rule!
His good though, he only plays rough with dogs that like to play rough, if there not interested he backs off.
His got a year n a half old greyhound friend, who LOVES to play rough, they charge around for ages jumping all over each other.
The thing is all the rough play leaves him covered in little cuts and grazes, which have scabbed up and now his got little bald patches, Anyone know if the hair will grow back?

There not serious scars, there just scabs from little scrapes and grazes. With any luck the hair will grow back

Re: Scars on Dogs...
I'm sure it will grow back, they can get awfull damage playing rough, my Scrumpy would play with her cousin and end up with bite marks and bleeding! It was all fun play, and the cuts always healed fine and the hair grew back

He does love a bit of rough and tumble, the other day he was playin with another dog, both jumpin all over eachother, n a woman walked past with a poodle, saw them comming towards her, picked her dog up and just walked as quick as possible in the other direction lol, me and the other dogs owner couldnt stop laughing.

Re: Scars on Dogs...
I should imagine it will grow back kaiser has from my sisters shih tzu who has now been banned from jumping all over him kaiser had loads of scabs and scars the hair did grow back but then i noticed some were growing back white and with him being mainly black i thought he looked silly so my sisters dog has been banned from playing with him as they would quite happily play rough for 3 hours none stop while she was round at mine and kaiser always was the one covered in cuts

Re: Scars on Dogs...
I just had an AHHHH moment. Emma constantly has little scabs and scratches. We never really knew where they were coming from, but now I get it. I guess with their short hair they get little cuts easily? When we adopted her she was covered with cuts and scabs and it made me wonder then. Thanks for the post, very helpful

Re: Scars on Dogs...
Molly is covered in cuts and grazes, all but one has covered over with hair again, but the other one was a pretty bad cut, so it'll just take a bit longer to sort itself out I guess.

Re: Scars on Dogs...
Personally I wouldn't worry about a few little scars - they are 'honourable scars' for a staffie. No self-respecting staff would be without one!
Seriously, the hair will grow back, but even my bully has scars on his nose where the short (virtually non existant!) fur doesn't give any protection.

That's a point, reading Caryll's post about the nose. Molly's nose was covered in scars from her boomer ball, they are nearly all gone now, other than the fresh ones!
So yes, they do heal and fade!
