Freya one of our new puppys has just started perhaps a urinary problem?? she keeps squating to pee, sometimes a tiny bit comes out other times nothing, doing this litterally every 5mins, going to the vets tommorow anyway as i have several concerns for their health so hopefully all will be ok, nothings new or changed either in the environment or feeding wise so no idea what causing this?? x

It mightent be a problem, Logan peed every few mins for the first couple of days I had him too. It was a nightmare. However, it could be an infection also.

But, if you have other concerns bring them in and mention it at the same time Smile

Could be a problem, but maybe it could just be the stress of moving in a bit? Not sure, but better safe than sorry, so mention any concerns you have when you see the vet. Keep us updated Smile

What food are they being given? Probably not a big deal. Loki's on Wainwright's and he never has that problem, but plenty of members on here will tell you different Laughing. Either way, there's no harm mentioning it all to the vet, that's what they're there for.

Have you changed over their food, weren't they on Bakers? That would maybe explain the problems with going to the toilet and smell etc. But it will take a while for the new food to benefit them.

In a litter there will be all different weight of pups. Some bigger than others and gender doesn't really denote which will be which, although it does help. Logan was a fair bit fatter than his siblings when I chose him.

We are quite hard on Bakers here and it might seem a bit OTT but you will def see a bit diffference when you get them onto a different brand. Smile

It's ok to feel the ribs/spine as long as they aren't visually prominent. Smile

If you want to, take a picture of him standing sideways and we'll have a wee look for you. Smile

They probably need worming - this can account for the skinnyness. You shouldn't be able to see the pups spine or all the ribs. Does his belly look big tho ?

Your girl pup sounds to have an infection, fairly common in small pups, but will need some antibiotics.

I'd advise you get them on the new food ASAP, you're doing them no favours keeping them on bakers xx

The gas and etc. will probably just be the Bakers, it's a terrible food. You'll see an improvement once the new food's in their system Smile

It is safe, it just might cause some stomach problems, that's why it's advised to do it gradually.

Sounds like a little UTI & the vet will be able to help with that.

Are you feeding the same amount of food to each pup? Patch, being male, might need more than Freya. Try increasing each meal slightly for him (they should be getting 4 meals a day at the moment).

They shouls also be wormed weekly up until 8 weeks & then monthly until 6 months, then every 3 months.

That answers alot Caryll, as far as im aware they were only wormed twice before 6 weeks when they came home poor souls & They are on four meals a day now though with the breeder the food was just left in mass & was available all day for all pups to feed off, I've been feeding them the same quantity of food so will re-check that thank you x

My pup is 11 weeks now and I still haven't cut her down to 3 meals because she can't each a huge amount each time and is putting on weight at a nice rate .
Let us know how you get on x

It's so difficult when the breeder hasn't been the best! You have to make up for their shortcomings.

Patch actually looks fine, but if you feel he's a bit underweight then by all means give him a little more food. Being off the Bakers will help a lot! Big Grin

They both look beauties and love the markings , as Caryll says out the breeder stuff behind you now , learn the lessons from it and move on to the future

IMO purina puppy food is on a par with bakers.
I'd go for something hypoallergenic and grain free.

Yeah we had a list of the recommended brands in hand when we went to buy food (being here theres only one store) they didnt have any we wanted so recommended the purina based on her having used it for her pup, will need to order in some good food... seems were not doing so great after all

Don't worry. Have a good look around the various web sites (Chemistdirect is a good one, or amazon, or even ebay) and you'll find som good deals. Wainwrights is a good, medium priced food. Barking Heads is also good. Even Lathams (from Tescos) is a reasonable, mid priced food & quite easy to get hold of.
