bad breath
billy seems to have got stinky breath, and when he chews his toys there is blood on them, could this be related and could it be because he is teething or does he need a visit to the vet.
we are feeding him raw now and i think that is supposed to be better for smelly breath.

Re: bad breath
The blood will almost certainly be his teeth. Check his mouth to make sure that there are no inflamed areas. If there are, you can get some puppt teething gel which will help him. Also, give him something to chew on - as you're feeding raw some neck bones would be good as they won't rub the gums.
For the smelly breath, try a couple of charcoal biscuits a day. It's an old fashioned recipe but it often works. Either that or garlic capsules, but it depends whethet you like the smell of garlic instead!

Re: bad breath
Yes, any pet shop will sell them. Either in a box/bag on their own, or sometimes loose so you can decide how much to get. Pets at Home I think do them loose.

Re: bad breath
Sky has stinky breath lately.... she eats Barking Heads dry food and Nature Diet, has the occasional raw bone, so not on crappy food! Can't see any probs with her teeth, so am not sure whats causing it really She doesn't drink much, so wonder if this could be a cause
May look at getting some charcoal biscuits as suggested above worth a try Have they helped Billy, Lynne?

Re: bad breath
They often get bad breath during the teething period, and this will vanish on its own when the process is over. The inflammation of the gums that go with the teething (and bad breath) is likely the cause of the blood. You should be able to look in the mouth and see if the gums look sore and if there are any loose teeth.
Many pups appreciate an old towel soaked (in water or broth), twisted up and frozen - a nice, cooling chew toy for aching gums.
