Our baby Gwen
Hi i am new to this staffy niceboard.. we got Gwen when she was 8 1/2 weeks old..she is now 13 weeks old..she is the cutest thing (a ridiculous amount of work) anyways we were just wondering about her red nose..at first we were worried she wasnt a staffy bc we researched it and it said the nose is black..with further reading we found out that staffies can have red noses but they are just considered extremely undesirable in the "show" world. We are not planning on showing her and are spaying her at 6 months so we dont care really and think her "dudley" nose is cute!! however i would like to know your thoughts about her!! we were told that both mom and dad were full staff however she did not come with paperwork..just curious on everyones thoughts about her!

Re: Our baby Gwen
She is very cute Without papers unfortunately it is impossible to tell if she is crossed with any other breed unless you get DNA testing done on her If you are not going to show or breed her then it doesn't matter but you are right that breed standard for SBT in the show ring is a black nose. She looks Staffy to me and a very pretty one

Re: Our baby Gwen
Thanks for your quick reply!!! We love her no matter what but to be honest it would be nice to know she is 100% staffie bc that is the kind of dog we wanted. As shes getting older she is starting to look more and more like a SBT. I was looking into doing a DNA breed test just to maybe know a little more! Thanks for your input again!

She's adorable as was said, without papers you'll never be 100% certain, but I'm sure that won't matter to you. I found out not long after I got Loki that he's only half Staff, but he acts completely like a Staff and love him to bits

By all means if you want to know, then DNA testing will be the only way to do it

Hi, see Loki DEF looks like a staff to me. How did you find out that he was only 1/2 staff? Did you do the DNA test? What other breed is he?? He is beautiful!!!!

Hi, she is a very beautiful pup. Without papers it is hard to be sure, and even with papers you still can't be totally sure.
As long as she's happy/healthy that's all that matters

Re: Our baby Gwen
Why go to the expense if you're not showing?
It won't make her any more gorgeous or loving knowing what she is. At the end of the day she'll still be your adorable little girl.
BTW Mat, love the new avatar. That is some head Logan has now.

Re: Our baby Gwen
thanks everyone..she is such a cutie!! to us she is our cute little staffy so the DNA test probably would be pointless considering we are not showing or breeding her! does anyone else have a staffy with a red nose??? most that i see have the black nose..i know the red nose is a rare recessive gene that has been breed out for the most part! she is special:)

Nah, we saw the mum and dad, but we were told the dad wasn't the dad, just another one of his dogs. Later found out (by snooping online) that he was the dad. He looks like a Staff but he's a lot bigger. I've read that DNA testing isn't always accurate, but give it a go, if you want
Oh, and his mum's a Staff, his dad's a Presa Canario.

I have no idea, you know hasn't been weighed in a good while now. He's not short and stocky like the typical Staff though, he's tall and gangly.
