Gwen's Parents

Hey all! I finally got the breeder to send pictures of Gwens mom and dad. The main reason we thought Gwen wasnt full staffy was because of her red nose...both parents have red noses but they do look like staffies to me. Please give me your opinions on if you think her mom and dad are full staff and if not any ideas what they are crossed with. I know i will never know for sure but any ideas would be greatly appreciated. We love her no matter what but you cant help but be curious of what she is/ if she is full SBT! Thanks a lot everyone! By the way the mom is the one with the lighter brown spots and the dad is the one with the brown around his eye!

I'm hopeless at determining full breed to X breeds They are both lovely looking dogs though

The dad looks like he might be crossed with American Bulldog, but that's just from the look of him, I saw an American Bulldog on a rescue centre site that looked almost the same. I might be mistaken, but I don't think Staffs naturally have red noses(?) unless they've been mixed somewhere down the line, so that'd indicate she's a cross. If she is, I'd guess American Bulldog, but you won't know for sure.

The red nose is a genetic fault.

The term Is 'Dudley red nose' if u google it there is some Info.

The red nose is commonly known and linked to pitbulls. (this would be a prob in the UK. But you're in the US so np) Thus not many ppl are aware of the 'Dudley Red Nose' in Staffords.

Bottom line, train your girl well, socialise her well and you should be good xx

Tara- Staffies can have red noses! It is a recessive gene that comes up and is considered a fault in the show ring which is why they have tried to bred it out of them and it now only comes up sometimes! However it is possible to get a red nose! I thought the dad looked like he had american bulldog in him too though..def not full american bulldog as he is way too small. The breeder continues to tell me that she is full SBT..she is now 16 weeks and only 20 pounds so i think she is the correct size for a staffy but i guess who really knows!

Jackie- As soon as i saw her red nose i immediately thought pitbull! However i dont think she really looks like a pit but she is just a pup and i know they look similar at this age..however after i saw her parents i dont think either of them look like pits!

I stand corrected then, sorry whether full Staff or not, she's adorable, so I suppose the curiosity will just fade away in time. Any chance of updated pictures?

i would say her parents are both crossbreed dogs. dad I would say has some sort of bulldog in him.

How tall are both the parents?

Dad def looks like an Ambull cross, which seems to be a quite common dog for them to be crossed with. Either way they look great

I would put my money on cross american bulldogs as they have the slightly larger heads, part of me says maybe pits? Either way they are both lovely looking dogs but i would say def not full staffies, x

Hi cara. Lola is only a few days younger.

I know i posted on her pictures but you never answered!!! Lola is one week older than Gwen!!! How much does Lola weigh now? Gwen is 20 pounds or 9 kgs!

the dad is 18 inches tall and 40lbs and the mom is 16 inches tall and 36 pounds

Dad definitely looks ambull ish to me so i would say she's definitely a X gorgeous though

Oh yeah 1 week older... not weighed her in a couple of weeks if I'm honest, ill get back to u on that.

Don't fuss much about her weight, they all grow at different rates. Besides, weight isn't an indicator that she's a cross, not at her age anyway

Okay first off, i do agree the dad does look somewhat american bulldogish..i do not think the mom looks like an american bulldog and i do think she could be full staff..however i feel like the dad being 40 pounds is WAY too small to be an american bulldog or even a staffy x american bulldog. Correct me if im wrong but dont male AB weigh 90-130 lbs full grown??? 35-38 lbs. I feel like a staffy x american bulldog cross would still be at least like 60-70lbs. I know to some/most people it doesnt seem like it matters what she is but to me i really really wish i did!

I'm no expert but I like someone else mentioned think the dad look a little bit like a american bulldog. Have had a few in the shelter where I volunteer and the photo reminded me of some of them!

Well, I don't know how much Loki weighs, but he's 21 inches in height and he's half Presa Canario. It depends on the dog how big they'll grow to. You can get purebred Staffs that are small, and some that are a bit bigger than the standard, so you can't go by his weight to say he's not a cross. That's just what he looks like to me, but you'll never know for sure.

I know i will probably never know for sure which totally sucks!!! It is so weird that the breeder keeps telling me that both the parents are full SBT...even when ive already had Gwen for 2 months and have told her I dont care what she is i love her and obviously am keeping her no matter what but i just want to know what kind of dog she is!! So its weird that she continues to tell me they are full SBT! I dont get her reasoning for lying to me at this point!!!

She might not even know herself. Lots of people have obvious crosses but insist their dogs are pure Staffs but don't have papers. For all she knows, she has two Staffs, and that's what she's telling you because she believes it.

Think it's pretty clear from the parents pics you don't have a full staff however she is a little beauty sand dare I say it from the recent pics she looks much more stsaff than mum and dad
