help needed asap worried sick

Hi all i need a little bit of advice, my insurance company for my car forgot to take 2 payments out of my bank account. these payments were for jan and feb i never even noticed that they had not gone, my insurance company forgot to re apply to my bank for these amounts, i got a letter about 2/3 week ago asking for 1 amount so i went in and payed them happily that was jans payment i was then told i had to pay febs payment by the 7 of march which i agreed to no fuss at all but last week the 28th of feb i got a letter off them saying they are canceling my insurance and wont be insured as of tomorrow i am worried sick now do they just send these letters out as a warning or will they cancel my insurance, they agreed i could pay tomorrow and if i didnt then they would cancel my insurance but they have sent the notice out before iv even paid any one any ideas thanks in advance

if you didnt cancell the dfirect debit you have done nothing wrong and its there fault for not requesting the money and all moneys have been ayed when asked so i cant see how they can cancel your cover
but if they do get in touch with the insurance ombudsman to sort it out for you infact even if they dont cancel your policy still get in touch with the ombudsman so they can get them to reveiw there practises

thanks for the replies, in all honesty i did have to cancel the direct debit in december due to a death in the family and paid a week later, they said they would reset the direct debit back up but never did hence jan and febs not going out my bank. the bloke i spoke to at my insurance company said i was ok to pay on the 7th of march so i dont understand the notice because we agreed a date and my renewal is due on the 12th of march my hubby spoke to my insurance company via the phone and he was told these letters come out as standered but im very unsure because i got one recorded delivery and one normal delivery

The notice will have been sent by computer. Someone there should have stopped the letter automatically going out, but they obviously didn't!

If they've said you can pay tomorrow (do you have a name of the person who said you could?) and you do pay it, then you'll be ok.

The computers automaticaly kick out letters,hence some letters saying if you have already paid ignore this letter etc.If you have spoken to them and arranged to pay,then i wouldnt worry.Just double check that you wont have a problem driving.

Might be worth writing to them as soon as you've paid it with an explanation of how the payments were missed, confirming that you are now up to date & including details of how you paid, and keep a copy of the letter with your insurance policy.

thanks every one for the advice yeah i know the name of the person who told me i could pay tomorrow and i will write to them once iv paid and make sure i am ok to drive too, my hubby said the notices were sent out by a computer but i was not too sure its been a bit scary tbh and very worrying but thanks for the replies

It's the same with everything nowadays! Certain things happening trigger certain computer responses.

As long as you've paid & you have proof you've paid you're ok.

yeah that is true i never really thought of it like that i just panic lol im really hoping things are going to be ok feel a bit more positive now

hi only just managed to get on after a stress full day, i paid as i was asked to do they didnt cancel my insurance but they wont renew my insurance so i have had to shop around for some more cover really not happy with them but there was nothing i could do

Plenty of other firms out there who will be happy to recieve your money.
The main thing is your covered until you insurance ends.

You'll probably find a better deal anyway! They don't sound very reasonable, do they? You'd think they didn't need the business!

thats so true yeah heard a bad thing or 2 about them today so well shut i think they really opened my eyes up to how rubbish they are lol but yeah glad its over now thanks for asking

Don't know who you're with at the moment, but we went through Hastings Direct & they were pretty cheap & easy to deal with. Worth a look.
