Am I bringing betty up the right way?
People say im wrong, These people make there dogs sleep in the garden btw, She is so well behaved its unreal, when we go walks she will ignore everything but me and a football, she wont respond to passer by, she has absaloutly no intrest in other dogs cats ect, if i ask her to do something she does it straight away, never poos or wees in the house, never chews anything, doesnt jump up people ect ect, basically the besy behaved dog ive seen, but on the otherside she stole a chocolate bar from my friends hand very gently and discreetly, very funny but......, also she does her busssines up the feild as we are there for an hour or so, we will walk home and she will squeeze out a little poo outside the neighbours house, and a while ago i answered the door came back and she eat all my spaghetti bolognese, is this bad, Honestly its bad i defintly dont incourage her to do it, but i laugh so much sometimes. she is given loads of attention from me and my family every minute of everyday, fussed and spoilt allot apprently, we have pudding so should betty, Is this wrong, I beleve dogs are friends, if pet is a word you wish to use dont get a staffy. Peace and love to all you staffys and all you mums and dads Could you share your veiws on how you raise your dog, just your whole perception on the matter

You sound as soft as me It sounds like you are doing a great job The only thing I would urge you to do is have a read of this some foods can be poisonous to dogs

Sounds like you're doing great!
The only thing I'd watch is the spag bol because of the onions in it!
ETA: And the chocolate. Dark chocolate especially can make dogs really ill. Most human food is fine but the few things that spring to mind that you should never let her have is chocolate, onions, grapes or raisins.
She's a beauty BTW!

And?
Some dogs live outside, it doesn't mean they are uncared for.

Sounds fine to me. Depends on how you raise them, but regardless of what you call them, dog, pet, friend, furbaby, etc., as long as you love them, take care of their needs and don't harm them (physically or psychologically) it's all fine to me. I train Loki using positive reinforcement and clicker training. He's a good dog, but he's very mischievous. He knows what he's not allowed to do but still does it so he needs a lot more training.

I spoil Logan in some aspects but am strict on others. I try to use positive reinforcement with Logan too. He is fairly well behaved.
As long as you care about your dog and are doing your best for him/her I think you are on the right track.

Sounds like you're doing a great job. Other members have already mentioned foods to avoid and your furbaby sounds like an angel

Re: Am I bringing betty up the right way?
As far as we are concerned Rocky is part of our family as is treated as so. Some people dont understand the concept of having a dog as a pet, a companion. I talk to Rocky as if he understands every word I say as I believe he does to an extent.
Just before Rocky came into our lives I had suffered a miscarriage which was very upsetting for both me and my hubby. We look upon Rocky as our surrogate son, I know that sounds very soft but that's the way it is. I would be devastated if anything happens to him.

Sounds about right to me, Ella has the run of the roost, sits with us, sleeps with us, plays with us, Just keep on doing what your doing.
My dog is my child and i would never let her sleep outside, just not right for staffies, ok for big guard dogs i suppose.

Re: Am I bringing betty up the right way?
I view Otis as my baby and treat him as such he eats with us, sleeps with us and is spoiled rotten and probably has more toys, clothes and grooming products than hubby and I put together but having battled infertility for nearly 3 years and still childless I view Otis as one of the family and if he can he comes most places with us and wouldn't be without him. Sounds like you are doing a wonderful job x
