Extra/baggy skin!
I tried googling this, but it didnt really come up with what I wanted so I thought I'd ask here!
Does anyone's dogs here have a lot of extra skin?? It doesn't hang off her or anything like that but you can literally stretch skin from anywhere - even on top of her head she's always had extra skin on her neck what you can see, but it doesn't really bother me at all I just wanted to know if it's normal for a youngish dog? she's still under 12 months - I'm not sure how much as the vet estimated her age as she's a rescue

Some dogs will have more excess wrinkley skin than others.

Aww gorgeous puppy pic.
Bella is 18 months and she is still a bit wrinkly. She looks slim when she's standing but when she is lying down the wrinkles make her look like a wee tubby lol.

Daisy is wrinkly, when she frowns she looks like yoda!! When she had lost her fur with the demodex it looked terrible!!

Aww poor Daisy! I'm glad she's better now I never realized how wrinkly everyone's dogs are I'm glad my girl isn't alone!
A wee bit tubby! Aww bless her! I'm loving your girls smile in your avatar by the way! She's a stunner Honestly ebony hardly ever looks the same! Maybe it's cause she's changing all the time but she looks so different depending on what she's doing/where she is haha

Re: Extra/baggy skin!
Alot!! She was pretty much bald on her face, belly, sides, chest and front legs, It all fell out after she started her treatment. She had it really bad tho don't want to worry you, if the vet says alfies is mild he won't loose anything like that amount. She had her last dip today so it's back to the vets shortly for another scrape to check she is still clear, sure she is tho because all her hair has grown back

Re: Extra/baggy skin!
Sazzle is right. If it is mild and dealt with as early as possible it shouldn't be too bad
I'm glad to hear Daisy is doing well with it too

Re: Extra/baggy skin!
yeah that's right, daisy got misdiagnosed at first, which is why it got so bad and unfortunately at the time I'd never heard of demodex so didn't ask them to do a scrapeMatLogan wrote:Sazzle is right. If it is mild and dealt with as early as possible it shouldn't be too bad

Aww poor daisy!!! Yeah the vet said alfie only had it mild so wouldnt need any treatment unless the patch got bigger, which luckily it hasnt. Poor daisy sounds like shes been through the wars bless her

Re: Extra/baggy skin!
My boy only has extra skin on his neck when we put the collar on the extra skin hangs over his collar quite funny but the rest of his body theres not a little bit of fat at all your girl still needs to fill out since shes very young and most of that extra skin is what shell fill into, i think.

Re: Extra/baggy skin!
All staffy's and i think most bull breeds have extra baggy skin. I read somewhere that the reason for this is protection if attacked. The attacking animal, dog, badger, rat etc would only get a mouth full of loose skin when trying to bite the neck, causing less damage than if the flesh / muscle was bitten.
I still think the real reason is for cuteness though lol
