Chicken and rice?
So we just got back from the vets for numerous reasons. One of them was that zeus has had diarrhoea since he was on a specific medication. The vet said we can either feed him chappie for 3 days, or chicken and rice for 3 days to combat this, then back to his normal food. Which ones better? I'm guessing chicken and rice because it's natural? If so, how much should I be feeding him?

Poor fella.
The chicken and rice would be great for him and it's easy for him to digest etc and a simple meal with nothing that could really irritate him. I had to do it once when Logan got poisoned by eating mushroom at the lake...
I just gave one chicken breast in the morning with a good handful of rice and then the same again in the evening. You can stick a tablespoon of olive oil in to make it taste a bit better for him too

Thanks all, cheers for the tips, will definitely add some olive oil in. He's 21kg, so I'll do what matt said and give him a filet with a handful of rice.

Re: Chicken and rice?
I'd say that would be enough matey.
Keeping his diet light for a few days will help with the recovery too

Re: Chicken and rice?
Sweet potatoe is a good alternative too which helps aid firming the stools. Just cook and mash it. No butter or milk though lol . Dont go buying sackfulls of them though as some dogs love it while others will just turn there noses up at it. Try buying a couple at first and see how you go. If they like it it works great. also consider a blob of natural yoghurt to counter meds killing gut flora and upsetting bowls. Keep it to a minimum though as to much can make things worse, a spoonfull should be enough.
