Debo acts strange
Today was 3rd day we left Debo alone outside the cage. He has one room for himself with access to his cage. He feels safe there. The routine for him is the same. I'm back from work, food, walk, play time, sleep. He always falls a sleep or next to me on the sofa or on the armchair. Yesterday he went to sleep under table chair and today he went under our bed. Couldn't get him out, when finally did,he went to lay down in a hallway. Any ideas? Does being left outside his cage makes him feel unsecure? Or it's just a fase?

It may be the change but then again he may just need some alone time too.. Was he no longer happy in the crate?

He could just want some alone time. It's also possible that a noise or something may have scared him while you were out.

Maybe it's the change in routine, he has more freedom now, afterall. Jstaff's got a point too though, maybe something scared him when he was in his cage, is he scared to go in it now?

Re: Debo acts strange
Change of routine sometimes confuses our dogs.
But as said he might be looking some time on his own. He is getting to the age now where he will spend a lot more time on his own.
Logan now goes to bed in the early evening and I don't see him until I go to bed

He was happy in his cage but our working hours changed a bit and it would mean he is there for more then 4hrs. He still can get in and out the cage whenever. Yesterday he played fine in this room and relaxed with his toy chewing it on the foor. It just when he decided that he wants to lay down he left the room. Like he didn't want to sleep in there.

Re: Debo acts strange
Rocky is like that. Feels really insecure if left alone outside the crate, doesn't even like it if the crate door is left unlocked. Strange, I haven't had him long but it's obviously what he's been used to. He's never alone more than about 3 hours, but I would like to get to the stage where I can leave him without locking him up.jola139 wrote:Does being left outside his cage makes him feel unsecure?

Maybe he acts like that because its new for him and had to use to it. Hope I'm not making things worst by doing this?

Re: Debo acts strange
So was back from work at 8pm. And found one happy dog under his blanket on the sofa ( how he managed to do that?). And he was acting normal,so I think it was one off. But bless him, he;s doing so well. A fourth day left alone and he's been briliant.

I get home from work and she is usually at the door but a few times I can't find her, then I see a wiggle in the sofa throw and she is under it! Xx

Good to hear he is back to normal! Mine don't like change. I bet is was your change of schedule that weirded him out. Anyway, good to hear it is better now!
