Chuck, Staffie, DOB 18.11.08 – Reading, Berkshire
Chuck, Staffie, 18.11.08 – Reading, Berkshire
Homing Requirements: Chuck enjoys a quiet home with regular walks. He is happy being left, is non-destructive and isn't barky. Walks well on an extender lead or short lead and meets other dogs well whilst maintaining a gentle pace. He doesn't like dogs in his nose and is an 'with my people' dog i.e. isn't interested in other dogs too much. Travels well in the footwell of the car. Well mannered. Has sensitive paws, doesn't like gravel or rough surfaces.
His Story: Chuck was bought as a puppy with his litter sister. They have lived together for 4 years but have had occasional tiffs but were left whilst owners were at work and generally snuggled up together. Chuck is neutered and vax'd. Chuck is fostered in Reading, Berkshire as an only dog.
Advert: Chuck will make you Chuckle. He is a calm dog, caring and seeks company unobtrusively. He devotes himself and enjoys having his tummy rubbed. Chuck is a little chortler with little Staffie noises. Happy around children but hasn't lived with them, he grew up with teenagers.
Chuck is a 4 year old black brindle Staffie who has only ever known love. He has a clear health record. He loves to play footie and in the house is chilled he is happy to sit and just watch. Happy in his own company and not a high energy leapy Staffie; placid and loving. A special Staffie looking for his ever so caring home.
Please visit Chuck’s thread on our forum: http://rescueremedies.myfastforum.org/sutra113293.php#113293 to find out if he is still available and for fuller details.

Chuck arrived and I think he was a little overwhelmed by the kennels and the photoshoot. He was feeling a little warm too ...
"Welcome to Staffie Rescue Chuck, relax cos we love you already"!
We'll be back next month when you have settled to capture your Staffie smile ... unless of course you have been homed by then.

Chuck was a much more relaxed boy this visit and kept us all entertained with a little snack orientation lesson ...
"What ya got there Sweetie"?
"Yep, I'll give paw in exchange for sausages"!
Cuddles for SarahK in lieu of more sausages!
More moves to impress Margaret (Chinquest) for more sausages!
"Is that it then? Have you run out of sausages"?
"See ya all then"!
"Been nice eating wiv ya"!
Chuck is currently in boarding kennels and available to foster until his forever home comes along.

He does look more relaxed there, he is in very safe hands now, thankfully.

An update from Anne, one of our kennels volunteers ...
"Chuck is a very special boy and I love walking him. As you enter his kennel his tail starts wagging and he grabs (gently) something to hold onto while you put his harness on. He loves the field and runs around happily on the extension lead always waiting for you to catch up if you are lagging behind He shows his affection in a quiet, gentle way but once he knows you he is happy to share cuddles.
Chuck is still available for adoption.

Re: Chuck, Staffie, DOB 18.11.08 – Reading, Berkshire
Chuck is lucky enough to go home with one of our volunteers from time to time. Here is an update from them ...
"Just a quick post to let you know that this week/weekend Chuck is facing a new challenge- children! My cousin and her family have come to visit and Chuck has taken it all in his stride and dealt with their arrival in his usual style - by sleeping!
As long as he has his football...
...and his walks
Chuck is perfectly happy to be around children.
(We did tell Elijah that perhaps lying down on the floor next to a dog's food bowl was not something he should make a habit of, but Chuck didn't care)
They have mostly left him alone and he has done the same!
We did have a little adventure on this morning's walk. I was not concentrating fully on holding the lead and dropped it as we were going past a pug. But the owner picked the pug up and once Chuck reached them he just gave a little sniff and then lay down and waited for me. So no harm done, but I will be holding on the lead very tightly from now on! After that I stopped to talk to another dog owner (she has a very friendly rescue dog - but he is happy to ignore dogs that don't want to play) and Chuck was so good at standing out of the way of Isaac (the other dog). He did let me know he was ready to move on but seems to be getting calmer around other dogs and it was nice to be able to stop for a chat.
This evenings walk was once again incident free and enjoyable and after an exciting evening celebrating my brother's birthday (Chuck enjoyed the celebrations from the comfort of his bed) he is now snoring away"!
Chuck is still available for foster until his forever home comes along. If you are able to foster Chuck our Foster questionnaire is on this link: https://rescueremedies.wufoo.com/forms/rescue-remedies-fostering-questionnaire/

An update from one of our volunteers on Chuck:
"Chuck was very excited by the idea of going for a walk, but the first two attempts (last night and this morning), didn't go so well - we got about 100m yesterday and my sister didn't get much further than the end of the drive earlier today! His paws were just a bit sore from kennels, so I thought I'd try driving somewhere with softer ground this afternoon and he loved it! Pulled me all around the lake (not that I ever let him pull - I would hasten to add that he stopped whenever I did, it was just lovely to see some enthusiasm) and then when we got home we went straight out again and pavements were no longer a problem. Only two ten/fifteen minute walks but he had a great time and his sore paws all but forgotten!
Still not convinced by the posh new treats I bought recently, but enjoying his food and even having the odd chew on a rawhide. He's tried coming upstairs a few times, just checking the dogs stay downstairs rule still applies! Happy sleeping in his bed most of the day, although I can hear him rolling around on his back right now. No problems leaving him as long as he gets cuddles when you get back!
Deborah (my sister) has her priorities right - fuss Chuck first, never mind taking your coat off!
Checking out the sights
Come on! Stop taking photos, I've got things to see and places to be"!

Re: Chuck, Staffie, DOB 18.11.08 – Reading, Berkshire
Merry Christmas from Chuck and his fosterers!
It was very confusing - the people spent most of the day in the conservatory...
And all Chuck does in the conservatory normally is ask to go out, so he did!
So he did a bit of the hokey cokey (in, out, in, out, play a little boomer ball and shake it all about!)
Finally he got the idea that he could chill out in the conservatory
Then it was present time! Chuck wasn't sure what to do with his bone, so he put it back under the tree rather than unwrapping it :xmas lol2:
With a little assistance he got his present open and really enjoyed it - definitely got the hang of a bone since his birthday, didn't ask to go out to bury it once, just got on with nibbling and licking it and when he was bored left it where it was.
Once we moved into the lounge Chuck was very happy to help me with my puzzle book,
have cuddles with my sister
and just chill out staffie style
