Woah ! Gorgeous blue bubba but omg I woulda had a nervous breakdown having two close together, u need to be top notch on training the older pup, they may take on a more pack mentality being young pups but train everyday the older one and soft train the bubba 9-10wks, she will pick

Re: We must be mad
The reason we ask is that breeding is a lot more complicated than it seems. Staffords suffer from potential genetic problems and if the parents aren't health tested these things are very possible. Also, with the amount of pups in rescue centres it should only be breed standard pups prodcued when possible.
Please read this link off the website. We all would love puppies running about the house but we all also know the horrible things that happen to these dogs.

Re: We must be mad
Good luck lol be prepaired for it... I did the same and some nights i just sat on the sofa thinking omg what have i done...just getting over late night poo and pee visits to the garden. Teathing chewing, squits vomit etc etc but now im glad i did. They are a right pair and love each other so much its fantastic. Yes alot of time, work, patients and destroyed things but it well worth it.

Re: We must be mad
Good luck. The puppy is gorgeous.
With breeding, although I understand why people do it, with the amount of Staffys in rescue centres I just can't abide it. If you look on any site, battersea etc the breed you will find the most of are Staffys and Staff cross. Also, I find dogs are never really the same after pups. Same with cats and I like them mental and silly. From what I have seen they mature after having babies. It is your decision. Just please research it more.

Re: We must be mad
What is your reason for wanting to breed? Is she going to better the breed or just for the sake of breeding her? Is she a good example of the breed, not in your eyes but does she conform to KC standards, temperament etc. Do you have £2000 at least if there is any complications?
In 10 Scottish SPCA rehoming centres there is 107 dogs, with 55 being SBT's and a few SBT crosses. Every 2nd ad on sites like gumtree/preloved etc are SBT pups. Do you really need to add to this?

Re: We must be mad
Congrats on the gorgeous new addition And good luck, you are braver than me
As for breeding, I'm sorry but I think you are mad to even think about it. Are you an experienced, registered breeder? Do you have any idea of the complications that can arise, health and temperament wise? As has already been pointed out there are thousands of Staffy's and crosses in rescues worldwide.. Many hundreds are put to sleep every single week.. I think breeding should be left to "breeders" who know what they are doing, that have health checked both sides of the mating and have a fair idea that the pups they breed are going to be healthy and to breed standard..

Re: We must be mad
RSPCA alone last time I checked had about 120 or so Staffys. Battersea I cannot remember, then there is staffy rescue who have hundreds every year. I know we may sound horrid and I am sorry but it is just irresponsible.

Re: We must be mad
This breeding malarkey really is best left to the Professionals.
Also I think people tend to forget or have no experience of what its like to have a dog and bitch both unneutered living together in the same house when the bitch is in season, it really is most unfair on the dog, some male dogs literally waste away for the duration of the season, they worry and go off their food and are quite miserable. Do please have a rethink

Re: We must be mad
Congrats on your new best friend!
As has been already mentioned, I also think it's a bad idea to breed them. Think about your reasons for breeding them, and be honest! Is it in any way in your dogs' best interest? Will a litter of pups be created in order to better the breed according to the standards? Or is it just because you want to do it?
In cases like this, you really should try to think of the wellbeing of the animals. Would you be able to afford all of it, bearing in mind that if you want to breed, short cuts should not be an option! And what about the hundreds of staffies already in rescue centres? If you don't manage to find the perfect homes for all of these puppies (potentially up to 15 in a litter!), that's where they could end up.

Re: We must be mad
Please think again very hard about breeding your bitch, read the above advice and the pages on this site. And by the way, if you're thinking that "every bitch needs to have a litter", that is an old wives' tale and completely false.
Good luck with two puppies Paul!

Re: We must be mad
I hope it goes well with the pup, you have had some good advice so far. I would just like to add that having a litter is very hard and totally time consuming.
My uncle shows/Judges, Poodles and every so often ( rarely) when he wants something to show he has a litter. It costs him a lot of money......stud fee, LOTS of food, vet bills, registration fees, eye tests...his last litter he had 3 pups and his bitch needed a VERY expensive C- Section. He then found that the bitch wouldn't feed the pups for the first week ...total nightmare and was such a worry his bitch going into theatre like that. He is very experienced and has great intentions but it just shows it isn't as simple as putting two dogs together like that even for someone with a lot of knowledge.
He had a waiting list for his pups but otherwise he would have had to advertise ...in a breed like a poodle this is slightly easier....but it would be much harder to find excellent homes for a Staffy because they attract people who want a status symbol and often people underestimate their energy levels and need for company.

Re: We must be mad
I'm so sorry to hear about this poor puppy. We lost a 3 month-old puppy from a similar thing 4 days after we got him, and were devastated. The breeders gave us our lovely Kuchar as a "free replacement".
I hope things work out well for you. >< to the little puppy.
