Sharing our roast chicken - a quick question
I have done a search so I'm pretty sure of the answer but being a paranoid newbie I'm checking anyway
We have a lovely chicken in the fridge ready to roast for dinner later. If I cut the wings off before I cook it they will be OK to give to Maddie whole won't they? She has Wellbeloved-type biscuits normally, so I will give them to her separately (as I read that you shouldn't mix raw and processed foods in case they give her a bad tum).
Any advice/reassurance welcome

If you're not going to cook the wings, then they'll be fine to give to her, I give Loki raw chicken wings often

Raw chicken wings will be fine. Just observe as usual.

If shes not had wings before it's best to hold them whilst she eats.... She's gonna need to crunch up the bone then swallow it whole

Re: Sharing our roast chicken - a quick question
Well, that was a disaster...
I dangled a chicken leg at Maddie and she came over and looked enthusiastic. I offered her the leg (keeping hold of the end). She sniffed it, looked at me, and turned and walked back to her bed in disgust. Raw food indeed. Do I think she is an animal?
I won't do that again then

some dogs don't realise raw food is actually food first few times, try putting slits in the skin so she can smell the meat or chuck is in a hot pan for a couple of seconds just so the skin is a tiny bit cooked but the meat and bone is raw, it makes it smell more and she might get the idea

Do you have to freeze it first or can you feed it fresh?

Re: Sharing our roast chicken - a quick question
I did cut a little bit of the flesh off and offer her that after she turned her nose up at the whole piece of wing. She is looking very enthusiastic every time I take the cooking chicken out of the oven to baste. I do think she doesn't recognise it as food. Maybe I should have disguised it as a shi-tzu, she seems to think they are food

Well I thought raw chicken was risky, plus aren't chicken bones dangerous for dogs?
