Butcher's bones Empty Butcher's bones

Post by Blonderace Sat Feb 23 2013, 08:49

My mum's partner has bought a massive bone with knuckle joint for Tilly but I don't know whether they are safe? Can anyone offer advice please? If they are safe does it need cooking before she has it? And how long should she be allowed at it in one go?
Thanks

They are perfectly safe but give raw Big Grin Don't ever feed cooked bones, once they are cooked they can easily splinter and cause problems..

I know she had them as a pup with her breeder. Fingers crossed she's not scared of it like she was her stag bar!! Lol

Always supervise her with it Wink I'm not sure how long you should leave her with it at a time, but I'm sure someone will be able to advise Big Grin I would say do it slowly as it may upset her tummy if she isn't used to it Big Grin

As long as it's raw and supervised it's fine. If they aren't used to it though it can cause a bit of the runs and some bad gas.

Okey doke she will only be allowed a few minutes to start with so we can gauge her tummy's reaction. Her has is bad enough as it is at times lol!
