Puppy is picky with food
My 5 month old puppy is not eating. =(
She's very picky at the moment, she's content to munch on the fruits hanging off the pomegranate/fig/locquat trees in our backyard. *sigh*
Don't know what to do!
She does drink puppy milk and some of the doggy treats BUT she's not eating the chicken wings, chicken necks, lamb off-cuts (from our friend's yiros shop). She used to LOVE these things.
We've tried canned dog food and also the dry puppy biscuits/food, to no effect. =(
Is it because of the hot weather or is it just a phase all puppies go through?
Help!

Re: Puppy is picky with food
My girl went through this too, I know it is worrying but if she gets hungry enough she will eat She won't starve herself.. If she seems well in herself and dosen't seem like she is sick, try to put her food down leave it for 15mins, if she dosen't eat it, take the food away until her next usual meal time, do this at every meal time.. After she skips a few meals she will be hungry enough and eat whatever you put down.. I started changing Steffs food all the time and she just got pickier but I tried what I suggested above (after advise from here ) and I think she went about 5 days barely eating anything But eventually she gave in and started eating normally again Hope this helps..

As Kylie says , just be patient and take away all sources of treats like the fruits etc , is there nothing you can do to close off the area. A healthy dog will never starve itself

Re: Puppy is picky with food
Logan is an unreal picky dog. I was given the tip to put a tablespoon of olive oil in with his food, it works really well and it's good for them.

Soooo after the long hiatus, I'm back and happy to report that she's now eating. WOhOOO!!!
I noticed that she even ate the zucchini I gave her, some pumpkins too, carrots. So proud of my lil girl. ^_^

It's definitely a phase they all go through. We switch it up a bit for Marley, she eats dry food and we add some wet food with gravy and she woofs it up
