It isn't one of the worst, but it isn't one of the best, either. It has a very high maize content - same percentage as the meat, 26%.

That's exactly why I didn't go for it, too much grain and not enough meat. Also, the price for such a big bag is very cheap, leads me to think that the quality isn't the best. But hey, if it works, it works.

I disagree, quality ingredients are expensive, quality ingredients increases price.
I'm feeding Zeus with Orijen, which contains human grade boneless chicken, among various other decent sources of protein, fruit and vitamins/minerals. The reason why it's so expensive is because of these ingredients.

Wainwrights is far from cheap, it's cheaper than the even more expensive brands but its not a cheap brand compared to the ones you can get for £10

Re: New food
first i have heard aswell, guess what you can do jason is try it and see if ramsey has any benefit from it. I went with wainwrights through reviews and comments, this seems to work for tyke and the price i think is average.
keep us updated with what you think of the food.....

Re: New food
Wainwrights is a hypoallergenic mid - range food. There are better, but there are a lot worse !
Haven't researched anything on Pero, what are the %meat content etc ?
All u can do is try, see how Ramsey takes to it.
Personally, I fed Wainwrights trays which were 65% meat, no grains or wheats, 100% organic...but u now have moved my 2 onto raw.. Best thing we did, they are thriving. X

You aint making sense mate, Zeus was on Wainwrights too and the big bag is far from cheap. Its £38 odd quid, where as Pero is much cheaper than that. I suggest you use facts to back up what you say instead of your own personal opinion.

Re: New food
wainwrights is cheap because I see it everyday in petsathome and its probably the cheapest.. It's good stuff but cheap so just please get your own facts right.. It doesn't matter what's cheaper and what's not so grow up.. I've been using Royal Canin for months but I'm just trying something new. Ok?goldie87 wrote:Jason wrote:Well most of the people on here feed wainwrights which is one of the cheapest so tell then its crap

Hey, i think its each to there own, facts or no facts. We all have recommendations, if jason wants to try this food then there harm, it may be best suited to him and ramsey but i think £38 is a good price and dont forget thats one price may seem higher to others and less to the next individual! This is not aimed at any one!

Re: New food
Please, let's not get personal or snappy with each other. Pero isn't a bad food, neither is Wainwrights! Neither is top of the range, either.
I just get a bit suspicious of 'breed specific' food as it seems to be a gimmick to me, also I wouldn't buy a food that has quite so much cereal in it. But if you want to try it and Ramsey does ok on it, then go ahead!

Re: New food
Ive tried alot of food for mine and tbh dont care how much it costs. Laska was weaned on origen and marley on eukenoba (excuse spelling) marley go bored of it and laska had nothing but squits on hers. Ive settled on wainrights because its what suits them both. Its a good quality food and is relativley cheap compared to most. Both mine have delicate tums and im training them to work pulling. I only have to add zinc to there diet but no commercial food caters for there need for that. its impossible to say whats best food for any individual dog, ive seen some damn fine looking dogs with perfect bodies being fed on what i can only describe as crap.... Forget zhe marketing and play around to see what works, not all dogs are wheet intollorant either so for some that as a bulker will do no harm at all.

Re: New food
I feed Wainwrights and it works for me , wouldn't call it cheap and wouldn't say it was arm and a leg material . Everybody has their own opinions on what works and what doesn't , as long as we are not arguinbg here over Bakers and Wagg it makes no difference

So many dogs out there that are uncared for or in rescue , it's great that people care enough to even ask on a forum or look into different options for their dogs :-)

it's certainly not the worst food, but would i feed it? no far to much grain and not enough meat content for me

Such a cute pic! I feed skinners maintenance which is a cheaper food but works fantastically with our two.

Re: New food
It can be difficult to find food that suits your dog, it took me a while to find the right one for izzy because I have one VERY fussy stafford but now she is on JWB and absolutely loves it! Its worked wonders and would def reccomend giving it a try.

Re: New food
Ledger is doing great on Pero after he went off JWB and the prices were fairly relative when you think that JWB are 3kg bigger on the large bags and after all we all have the option of buying our own food organic and from premium sources but have very little issues day to day with some of the cheaper alternatives
Pero might not be the 'premium' food but we have no issues with it and Ledger loves it is looking in great condition on it IMO

Wainwrights is on offer at the moment , I think for all the range including puppy and mature £33 a bag so pretty good value for a decent mid range food , nobody can tell me that my 2 aren't doing ok on it
