well i never...why you should listen to your elders
Im always willing to learn from the experianced but this was a fantastic example of peers know best. Just about two weeks ago i tooks the hounds up to the woods as normal when a car open its doors and an obviouse older dogged popped out. I leaded me two as they are bouncy which can annoy older dogs. But no the old golden reteiver comes bounding over play bowing at laska. The an old gent followed and the dog which proceeded to play bow marley who did same back. I made a comment to the guy on his dogs behaviour and how young she was acting to which he replied good isnt she shes 13 years old ... I said bloody hell what are you feeding her and he said 1 spoon of honey every other day lad. There is more to the story but i tried it and they hated it at first and wouldnt go near it but after a few days they love it...amazingly coat is fantastic and energy levels are leveled out...havent seen him since to thank him but thankyou mate

Sounds good!
Dempsey's not very sure of honey. If you give it to him on your finger first, he'll eat it. If you put it straight into a bowl, he'll look at you as if you're trying to poison him.

I've heard that honey has many good healing qualities, never tried to give it to Rocky though, well apart from the time he was stung by a wasp but that was just to keep his blood sugar levels up and to stop him going into shock, thankfully it worked for him. Sounds like a very good tip.

Re: well i never...why you should listen to your elders
I tried this with my pair a couple of weeks ago and they hated it, just gave it another try and they almost took my fingers off, they loved it. Over the last couple of weeks I have been changing them to "slightly" cooked raw food, so am putting the change down to the new differnt foods they have been eating rather than them not recognising anything non kibble as not food.
Thanks for the tip.

Ill give this a try. Do you give it to him straight off the spoon or in his food?

I've never heard of giving dogs honey, but I'm tempted to give it a try. Thank you for the tip.

I've heard if you use fresh natural honey it can also help with allergys and skin issues to.

Re: well i never...why you should listen to your elders
I know honey is good for allergies, as I give it to my hubby now each day to help stop his hay fever which can be really bad, it has worked wonders. Never thought of giving honey to a dog, ever though Pixee loves getting the left over toast with honey on. thanks for sharing this with us.
