If you chuck them in there not gonna like it
Some staffs don't swim, more don't than do tbh. With Moo I just coaxed her by throwing a stick in where she could walk in then I just threw it further and further until she had to swim, she loves it

Just keep encouraging. Throw toys just on shore, then just so they have to tiptoe in. They may never want to swim, but it can take a long time. My parents dog didn't swim until he was six. He started by following my dog in, and eventually just thought he'd give it a try.

Re: how to get my dogs to swim.?
Our boy used to come on the Sea Kayak with us with a life jacket on and he loved it , he used to get so excited when we pulled the Kayak out from under the caravan.
We got him used to the water first by throwing ball in the shallows , then sitting in the water with him ( with wet suit on if it was cold ...us not the dog)
When we were out in the deep water , he would choose to jump out for a little swim around and then we pulled him back in when he got tired. He also loved going in the paddling pool with my son when he was little...back in the days when the UK had a few warm summers !!!
If you can't get in with the dog then I would say take a friends dog along who likes the water and see if they will join in the fun......don't force them though

When we first got Millie we went to the beach and my daughter and I were in the water playing and she jumped up on a rock and barked at us then she jumped in and dissapeared so we panicked and swam back to where she went in as she burst to the surface only to go under again, bless her she swims like a stone. She sticks her head underwater to get stones etc but she just cannot float.
