Can You Swim?

just watching coach trip and 2 young girls cant swin i would like to know if this common?

I can swim - I'm not up to the level of you two, but I used to swim backstroke for my school.

my mum sent us for swimming lessons practicaly as soon as we could walk and we went every week without fail. my cousin was frightened of the water and when she was about 10 she came with us and would sit on the side of the pool. one day she decided to join us in the water but forgot we had moved from the shallow end to the deep end and walked in only to find she couldnt find the bottom. i thought she would freak and not come back but she soon composed herself and was swimming with the rest of us a few weeks later.

I used to swim for Surrey, IM was my fav or butterfly, those where the days, I couldn't do it now!!

I only learned to swim about 10 years ago after being petrified of water from the age of about 6.

I find it surprising the amount of people who can't swim, just because throughout my schooling we always had swimming lessons and swimming lessons after school as well, and its such a big part of life here.
I suppose in some other countries it wouldn't be as common, there were a lot of people we met in Uganda that couldn't swim.

I was a lifeguard on the beach for a number of years

i used to swim at primary school then at secondary school then took up scuba diving at the local pool, canoe with scouts and cubs, we had to know how to swim

I can flap my way from one end of the pool to the other, but I don't know if I'd call it swimming as such...

same here, love swimming in the sea

when i was kid the swimming pool was a 2nd home to me and my mates i cant believe people cant swim

same here we used to go every week with school and at 3 times a week with mates, but they have closed lots of pools, the nearest one to us is 3 bus rides away. It would take an hour to walk, so kids cant go on their own these days

my second home was the north sea as a nipper that why when it came to swimming in school i was like a rocket lol

Never was on a swim team but I was always the fastest lifeguard in the water

My dad always took us swimming lesson's every Thursday which lead to gala's and diving competitions etc .. i did the 2000 lap's when we hit the year 2000 lol .. well actually i did 2002 because my coach didnt stop me on 2000 and only spoke up as i was coming back from another 2 laps

Yep, but my husband, can not. My mum was a surf life saver and was a swimming instructor... I am not a strong swimmer, but can swim and enjoy it.

Swaqm competitively until high school. Here in South Africa its very uncommon not be able to swim. So much part of the summer here.

I can swim not very strong but can do a few lengths
our senior school had a pool linked to it so everyone in the school got lessons once a week

I can doggy paddle and that's as good as it gets

I swim like a mermaid lol

Nice Dann. Now I can't answer seriously. However, raced for a number of years and in college. That is actually how I met my wife (she was better than me though - olympic trials and was second behind Amanda Beard in the day, she quit racing to marry me though so perhaps I really did win). Me, I was just a lowly collegiate racer.

I can swim but don't like getting my hair wet or swimming in the sea!!
