Re: Defra
I was reading this last night and couldn't think what it was that was annoying me.Well what i don't believe is this statement:
Cover Image: Pit Bull type dog, photo courtesy of the RSPCA.
Now i don't know about you and i could (and probably am) be wrong but i think think it looks more mastif than pitbull, and i am disgusted that the RSPCA couldn't be bothered to provide a picture that they COULD clearly identify which breed of dog they are warning a very uneducated and brainwashed public about

It looks like the same dog that "The Sun" uses for all their misinformed, over-exaggerated stories.
(used for illustrate an attack on a little girl by a Border Collie I might add)

Re: Defra
And that believe it or not is the guidlines the dla and wardens get... As a peice of legislation thats supposed to address pure breed as well as type banned dogs its not a good start...think they got the staff at news corp to write it...how many of you could id the banned pure breeds?just before you go googling that think about it for a while to see the wheighted predjudice towards bully breeds...

Re: Defra
What gets me. What sort of training do these people get? How or on what grounds do they decide a dog is a "Pit Type" !!!

Re: Defra
Next to none mate. The way it goes is wardens make initial judgment then regular beat bobby has to get dragged away from duies to enforce it then the police dlo decides if the dog is type or not and makes the decision on whether to take it forward or not. Out of all these people the dlo is only person with formal training and often an ex k9 unit officer so to be fair a good judge except they are few and far between, maybee one per county if your lucky. Not good fordogs and owners awaiting decisions

Re: Defra
I've complained... Wrote this:
Dear Sir/Madam,
RE: http://www.defra.gov.uk/publications/files/dogs-guide-enforcers.pdf
I recently wanted to review the laws surrounding dangerous dogs since I am involved in rescue and rehabilitation of homeless dogs. However upon opening the PDF I was upset to see that the picture associated to the PDF was a Staffordshire bull terrier barking.
I think with the current media perception and the discrimination and grief this causes many Stafford owners it is irresponsible for you to stereotype and fuel people’s incorrect assumptions. Many people will see this and use this as further ‘evidence’ that the Stafford is a dangerous breed in general. Please could you look at removing this photo from the PDF or if you feel this is unnecessary can you fully explain your reasoning.
Yours Faithfully
