Ewwwww looks very muddy there, I usually end up being covered in mud after walking Rocky, when we get home he has cuddles and manages to cover me in the stuff

Toby also hates water. Thinks hes used to the mud now. Theres been so much hes had no choice. Plus he hangs around with my parents cocker spaniel, she will go out of her way to get in every bit of mud marsh and water around. Hoping when it gets warmer i can get him to paddle in the sea

You wouldn't think it if you see Bacchus after a walk, but he tries to avoid mud and puddles too. An impossible task at the moment. Fortunately when we get home he goes straight to a big bath towel we keep inside the back door, and gets a rub down.

Re: Tommy hates the mud and water
Hi i'm new to this forum too.Sounds like you have the same problem as me. I have a 4 month old called Katy & she hates getting wet & muddy, makes it difficult to go walkies especially as i live out in the country. It's more like going for a drag rather than a walk. I even have a problem getting her to go out & do her toilets in the garden if she sees it's raining. I have to push her out the door & shut us both out until she has been.

Ha ha, I think it's pretty typical of the breed. Tommy will only go through the mud if he thinks he's going to get separated from me or if he's playing with another dog. Otherwise he'll walk around it at all costs. For tough looking dogs they're unbelievably soft

Re: Tommy hates the mud and water
I thought it was just us!
Rudie is terrified of going out in the rain or falling snow as well as baths, showers and buckets of water. Our 1st attempt at a wet walk his tail was under his bum and he started shaking then whining etc. Tried coats to no avail and I assumed it was his issue not a breed thing. Had to get him a dog flap to cope with wet days when he wont go out & I have to leave him.
When we are out he will walk around puddles & patches of mud, but he doesn't mind rolling in Fox muck, he will wade into shallow clean water (river or sea) as long as water stays below his belly & no other dogs are near to splash him. Its funny to watch him run out of the water when another dog approaches & then shake himself like hes finished a 3 mile swim!
Was great fun yesterday watching him try to negotiate a snow drift on the south downs and realising it was a LOT deeper than he thought he didn't know which way to go and did not appreciate me laughing at him.
