We bought our daughter a nice little first car today Big Grin .. (supprise 18th birthday prezzy Wink .. gunna drive it to pick her up from the hair salon she works at on Saturdays) she will be expecting me in the Jeep, so wont see me and phone to find out where I am Laughing ... to which I'll say .. "I'm sat waiting for you in YOUR car" and get out and wave at her Laughing

Anyone know a cheap ins. company for a first time girly driver ? money eyes

don't bother with the insurance companies just for women they were 3 times as much as anywhere else.

I'm with admiral and they easily gave me the cheapest price

supposedly but there are still companies that just insure women, but they are a pain in the *, most don't like to insure drivers under 25 and when they do it costs a fortune

Insurance is stupid prices now even for me who has 17 years no claims. Only suggest compare sites, just hope you find a good deal.

Oh Andy what a lovely daddy you are!

Ref insurance - I think that thanks to sexual equality, girlies don't get preferential rates any more, we all have to shell out because of the boy racers.

I've looked at sites like Sheilas Wheel but got a better deal with my current insurers (which is Saga, which won't help your daughter - sorry).

Comparethemarket.com and similar are the best ways to find the best insurance. It won't be cheap, however .....

for young drivers, try bell.co.uk they are a part of Admiral, and about the only competitive ones for me. also, a trick i've found is have mum as a named driver (as long as she has a clean licence and no bumps) it saved me almost £100 this year alone,

btw, the fester is a great little car, only real common thing they suffer from is the thermostat housing on the petrol zetec engines (relativley cheap to repair)

Great stuff Andy.

Just one thing - when I was young like your daughter ( day dreaming ) I used to get Third Party, Fire and Theft insurance as it was cheaper than Fully Comp (and especially if the Fully Comp premiums were more than the car was worth). Is it not so nowadays?

Yeah thats pretty much the case nowadays too, and a lot of companies wont even entertain the idea of insuring a first timer fully comp, which is another reason why this is such a brilliant deal, and its great for us to think our daughter is covered fully comp from the word go Big Grin .. my wife actually made the woman on the phone spell it out, saying wheres the catch !! thinking as they were a grand less than the cheapest TPFT quote anywhere else Surprised Surprised ... I've gone through the details they emailed us, and its all good Big Grin .. proper result Big Grin

Mike - yeah I wanna get a pic of her with the keys by the car just after givin them to her, and I'm gonna photoshop over the top .. "Jan 26th 2013 .. Independence Day!" .. and frame it for her for a memory Laughing
