I have always read that dogs don't wee or poo in there sleeping area. Well Alfie has broken that idea. He has a very nice soft dog cushion in his cage and for the first week loved it. Suddenly without and warning he has started to pee on it os we took it out and he now has just a blanket and guess what he pees on that as well. After giving his cushion a good wash and putting it in the front room to lay on he only went and peed on it again. We have been out and got a bottle of spray which is meant to help them to just wee in one place. He has a drink of water and walks over the pads with the spray on it and wee's on the cushion. We do everything possible to get him in time and take him out into the garden which he uses perfectly fine for doing both. Any ideas what we can do to get around this problem?

How old is he now & how long is he in his crate for? What have you used to clean his bed?

He is 11 weeks old. we used a pet friendly disinfectant to clean his cage, he has been in his cage for just over a week. His bedding was washed in the washing machine with the same soap as we wash our clothes in. He layed on his cushion for over a week with no problems it just changed all od a sudden.

Just keep doing what your doing. I think Caryll ment how long is he left in the crate, and I'm sure he hasn't been left there for a week!

It just takes time really, and 11 weeks is very young, it will click one day Xx

lol sorry. No not been left in his cage far a week lol he has been using it for a week now. He would wee as soon as he goes in it or if the door is left open on it he will just wander in and pee then walk out.

Yes, he's very young, that's why I wondered how long he's in the crate? It could be that he had an 'accident' and it's set his training back a bit.

Try washing the bedding in a biological washing powder, because it sounds as though he can still smell the wee on it.

I haven't used one myself, so my only advice is to be more aware, maybe have the door close for now so he can't wander in and wee.
