Staffies Correct size at their age?
Hello,
I have 2 Staffies, and they are my first 2 dogs of this bread, I am very happy with them,
but I am wondering if the size of my dogs are rigth at their age,
I saw them short for their age but as they are my first Staffies no sure of the correct size of this bread,
Their size are correct or are under?
Name: Max
Sex: Male
Age: 8 months
Weight: 35 ib (15.8 Kg)
Height: 14" (35.5 cm)
Name: Buffy
Sex: Female
Age: 7.5 months
Weight: 30 lb (13.7 Kg)
Height: 12.5" (31.7 cm)
Could you please let me know if you see their size rigth for their age?
Thanks for your comments,

Re: Staffies Correct size at their age?
Within reason there are no correct sizes as they are growing as they will all grow at different rates, however I would say that both of yours are a bit on the heavy side for their age , but if they are full staffs and look correct , with the last couple of ribs being visible but not felt and a noticeable waist then they will be fine, any pictures so we can see ??

Re: Staffies Correct size at their age?
They sound about right, although as Dave said they both sounds quite heavy for their ages.
The Breed Standard say the following...
Size: Desirable height at withers 35.5 - 40.5 cms (14 - 16 ins.), these heights being related to the weights.
Weight: dogs: 12.7 - 17 kgs (28 - 38 lbs); bitches 11- 15.4 kgs (24 - 34 lbs)
But obviously that is for an adult.
Can you post a pic of them? It'd be easier to say, then.

Not so tiny if he's 17 kilos - that's about the right weight!

Tommy is around 7-8kg @ almost 4 months
Tilly is a nice rotund 18kg @ 24 months (vet has told us off and we are trying to get some off her but this heat isn't helping for the exercise)

Buster is 10 months and when he was weighed about a month ago he was 17 kg, I think (I have slept since then!) but he is about 17 inches so alot taller. I think it is best to go by what they look like rather than weight

Bailey's nearly 11 months and he's about 19kg or so and about 17" roughly! But he's not got a bit of fat on him, he's pretty lean!

Re: Staffies Correct size at their age?
My little Delilah is 7 mths and 11.4 kg and approx 14-14.5". As a bitch she is never going to be as big as our other who was at the same age 15.5kg and 15", I think at fully grown she will be around 14kg. I think if they look ok it doesnt really matter as long as they are in the guidelines.

Re: Staffies Correct size at their age?
Lovely pics!
I doubt that either will grow too much taller, but will fill out more as they mature. They both look quite long in body, so maybe that's where the weight is coming from?

I thought it was always you want the ribs to be easily felt but not visible?
Well Hiccup is just over 8 months of age and around 17-18kg and he's not fat either. Not sure of his height though but I actually thought he was a bit small for his age. Perhaps I was wrong XD
