Re: HELP DOG BEHAVIOUR !!
General rule is a good firm no , and turn around . There are loads of threads on the subject just take your time to look through , searching "jumping" The behaviour will not change overnight and you must be patient
Here's one for example

You could also try putting his collar and lead on when people visit so you can have control of him in this situation. When he is calm take the lead off and let him interact, if he becomes excitable again just pop the lead back on.

Re: HELP DOG BEHAVIOUR !!
When I first got Betsy she went nuts when we had visitors. I got a dog gate put up so I could close it when visitors arrive. I also put her lead on and she doesn't come off until she's calm.
As said i'm sure with time this will get better. Staffies are so friendly and nosey which is part of why we love em so, but just need a little guidance.
He's a beautiful boy

Re: HELP DOG BEHAVIOUR !!
Yes, Staffy pups LOVE everyone and go crazy with excitement when meeting anyone (human or canine) new - or again!
Good advice above, and please look through all the links and threads on this forum - you are not alone!
It will take time and patience for him to learn to modify his behaviour - my pup is now 12 months old and still goes out of his head with excitement when meeting anyone new - or again, so I'm going through it too!

Re: HELP DOG BEHAVIOUR !!
As said by Lynda there's lots of advice on here. Most of us have been through it and it's very typical and with a young one too.
When I got Betsy I followed advice here and use a training lead as she would run up to all folk and dogs - not great as understandbly some don't like this. The training lead is great as gives your dog chance to run around, you get to practice recall and teach him how to approach other dogs.
I got something like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/50-ft-Long-Dog-TRAINING-Lead-LARGE-in-Various-Colours-/140555982900?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Dogs&var=&hash=item20b9ca1834
It's also great for when they meet new dogs which you aren't sure about.
Good luck and have fun

Re: HELP DOG BEHAVIOUR !!
my dog is 7 months and does all this too. We dont have visitors very often so she just goes berserk. I have started the lead and collar and i get her boomer ball out after a while and that keeps her busy and she ignores the guests. She also greets people too exuberantly, it must be a staffy thing. I tend to put her back on the lead if i see people approaching unless i know them and they know her. We'll get there im sure
