Just having a moan

I have been doing nights for about 2 years now. People refuse to do them do they are always available which suits me fine. But my body is just exhausted now. I can't sleep at night and sleep all day even on days off.

I'm just so tired of night work now. Want my nice 9-5

Not sure I could do night work.

I so love working nights, I can't physically manage on days for to long i get far to exhausted and just feel ill and lousy!

Thank god for being permanently on nights now!

I'm the same and I really like nights but I'm just exhausted and haven't seen anyone for ages cause I'm always sleepin lol

Just want a break.

Dad suggested I take a secretarial course cause that's kinda the work place I want to get into, but I have no practical experience (not much anyway about 6 months worth)

So that would be a good thing.

see my OH and mates all work nights so it works out for us i don't find them tiring either, now days i do meh can't cope with them!

Noone I knows does nights everyone's 9-5 so I never see anyone lol

What's your hours? They sound long!!

I work 9:00pm - 6am. But it's a bit weird there is only 4 of us that work nights, meaning me and my partner work a full 7 days and then a week off while the other pair work their week.

So no not the longest shifts really but just really weird working pattens, meaning i work over 60 hours a week, and that's without doing any extra calls to help out

Strange!! Do you work in the same wars type thing as your partner?

Mine is bank hours but unusually try to get 3 a week of 12 hr shifts. I wouldn't mind yours hours! I like a week off lol

Yer they are strange hours.

My OH is a croupier in a casino so no we don't work the same he does work nights though.

I do home care but 'night roaming' as it's known. So me and Tina always work together meaning we share the driving and such, the shifts aren't to long but the driving over a 100 miles of the same route for 7 nights in a row gets a bit tedious

Oh! You're so lucky. I love driving about and ESP at night. That would be fab. I'd hate going to people's houses though that would be a bit weird lol

You do get used to going into peoples houses and waking them up though!

Do you have to do that for medications or what not or just safety checks?

Everything basically, we tend to get the worse cases at night. 2 we visit just to make sure they haven't died....

We do medication if needed, generally turning for pressure care, personal care, those with stomas come to us that sort of thing

By that time I will have remembered how much I hate days and will be happy to go back to my nights.

I did night shifts once never again the noises in the day time used to keep me awake and I ended up like a zombie

I worked permanent nights in a bakery when I left school at 17. Not the greatest choice of work but had to take it at the time. Not great for my social life, I lost contact with all my old school friends, who I haven't seen from then to now either.

It took me about 6 weeks to get used to it, the sleeping pattern etc. then I was OK. I was then made redundant after about 3 years then it took me another 6 weeks to get out of it again. I worked from 10pm to 6am.

At the time I enjoyed it but looking back I wish I didn't have to do and wouldn't if I had the choice of something else but that's just me.

Before i met my DH,he used to work nights sometimes on a rota shift.He said he loved working nights.I couldnt do it because i would never be able to sleep during the day.He could sleep through a bomb going off
