Lung worm
Hi guys we've had a crap month sadly Bailey caught lungworm even though we have wormed him with milbemax since we got him. There was virtually no signs of him being unwell until a month ago after a walk I noticed he was breathing sharper. So to be on the safe side I decided to take him to the vets thank god I did the vet X-rayed him and was astonished with the X-ray results his little lungs were such a mess. We had to take him straight to the hospital for further tests which came back positive for lungworm. After the tests he was let home a day later where he has been on panacur and antibiotics we have been back for follow up X-rays and poo samples and today we got the good news he is all clear on both counts no lungworm and his lungs are clear.
Please be vigilant because bailey showed no signs of being ill at all and lungworm is a Killer !!!!!!

Oh my life so glad he is ok. Charlie came bounding into the house the other day and started chewing on something....got him to give it and it was a snail!!! Our garden is full of them he's probably eating a few everytime he goes out

Must have been scary, glad he's OK now. I'm lucky, Loki tried to eat a slug once and spat it out, disgusted by all the slime in his mouth. Ever since then, he won't even give them a second glance

Re: Lung worm
Well I've just spent 2 hours in the garden clearing all the borders of dead leaves and hunting out any snails lurking about, hopefully Charlie won't find anymore out there!

Re: Lung worm
How terrifying, I guess these things can build up a resistance over generations against milbemax and such. Well done for being vigilant enough to notice his breathing x

Re: Lung worm
Thanks for the replies
Lol griffin I've got beer traps out in my garden full of slugs and snails but bailey still finds them I've taken to putting salt on the ones he finds he doesn't like the salt taste I'm trying everything to put him off none of my other dogs ate them.
I just hope his lungs recover fully with no scaring the vet seems to think he will
But wants to do regular poo samples just to be sure he stays lungworm free.

Re: Lung worm
From what information I have read online this product is a pet friendly way to get rid of the snails. Note is a small container though, not sure how much you would need for your size garden. It does come in a bigger bottle:
