Is this a behaviour that has suddenly come on? I take it you have had him from a pup?

Re: Hi from me and my baby Chips
Yes its been happening in the last couple of weeks,no changes at home so no obvious reason. We've had him from a pup and my kids love him to bits as he does them so its awful to see them nervous of him

Re: Hi from me and my baby Chips
Has anything spooked him, seems strange, as I am sure it does to you that his behavior has suddenly changed in the last couple weeks, something must have triggered it. Who is the primary owner, as swapping responsibility can help X

Re: Hi from me and my baby Chips
Welcome to the best forum for Staffy owners! We will all do the best we can to help.
As Chips doesn't seem to be showing aggression to your children, then they should not worry. However, they will probably be upset if they see their Dad being growled at.
Does Dad "roughouse" Chips when playing with him? Does Dad "correct" any of Chips' misdeamours in a strong way?

Re: Hi from me and my baby Chips
Honestly janey nothing as changed and to our knowledge nothing has spooked him thats why i'm a little concerned about it. Primary carer is me i guess. It really seems as if hes trying to tell hubby that hes in charge, when chips does it hubby is saying no once then ignoring him till he stops but not sure if we doing the right thing

Change your hubby???
And kids being nervous of chips........... Now that's gotta be a first
On a serious note, I'd have to agree with Janey & say there is a reason that it's started happening.
Has he changed his appearance, grown a beard, started wearing glasses or a hat in the cold weather?
They're clever animals, and what we may take for granted is 'new' to them and they may not always approve; or in some cases it may put fear into them.....

Hi from us and Suki. Have you taught him to bark on command? From there you teach the quiet command

Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.
Where abouts does Chips sleep ?? Does he have his own bed or does he sleep on the bed with you??
Just a guess really as this may have an effect on behaviour.
