Hello I need some advice on my situation ?
I have a 10 year old blue staffy and a 2 year old Blue bitch, we have had both since they were pups. When the bitch come into the house and come into season we kept them apart on the first season as we never had any plans to breed and to be truthfull our male dog did not take any notice as was 8 at the time and thought he was past it, the bitch is now had her 4th season and for previous 2 the dogs were kept together as my male dog did not take any notice of her at all.now the male dog is 10 and let them out the back garden as usual, and you know what I am going to say they got stuck, I have talked to a breeder friend and he said it was very unlikely she is pregnant as he is too old but what are the chances, and if she is what are the risks ?

I would appreciate any advice as I am at a loose end,Thankyou very much........

Hi & welcome.

You need to decide whether you want your bitch to have pups. If you don't you need to get to the vets now. If caught soon enough your vet can end any pregnancy immediately.

Males are potent until they die. Although their potency can decline with age, they can still father pups until they are too old to actually mount the bitch!

If I were you, and your bitch isn't pregnant, I would get her spayed as soon as possible to prevent this happening again.

Either way, you should ask your vet to check her to see if she's pregnant.

Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me

It may be a very good idea to get the girl to the vets to get her check out professionally.
