Deworming problem?
Well I gave my dog a deworming tablet about 10 hours ago and hes still not had a poo or been sick to get rid of the worms? I thought he was meant to poo a lot when dewormed? Is this normal?

Only if he has worms.
Dewormers should be given regular more as a preventative.
I deworm my 2 but never seen any worms etc in their poop.

Re: Deworming problem?
It's not a laxative , it just either prevents or gets rid of a worm burden

Re: Deworming problem?
But if he had worms he'd poo quite often and if he doesn't poo it's because he hasn't got worms? Because I'm nearly 100% sure he has worms but yet he hasn't pooed all day?

Re: Deworming problem?
He rubs his bum on the floor, he tries to bite his bum a lot and his poo has a few white stuff in it. It's like his bum is always itchy and he has to itchy.

Re: Deworming problem?
Also, where did you get the wormers. Kenny gets his from the vets. Their only £6, and do the trick. We worm every 3 months just to keep him clear. When we first had Kenny, even tho his breed said he'd wormed him, we wormed him anyway. OMG, they were like Anaconda's, 3-4 inchs long. They dont have to be sick or poo more when youve treated them. Like dave said, it's not a laxative, it just kills the worms.

Worms are quite distinctive- little white noodle things. If you Google it there are pcs you can see. I wouldn't be worried as long as you are using a reputable worming tab.

You gave him Milbemax, didn't you? As far as I'm aware, Milbemax disolves the worms so you won't see them, & he won't poo any more than normal, and certainly shouldn't be sick with them.
The scooting along on his bum is more likely either anal glands or just a sore bum! If it's anal glands, a vet nurse should be able to help you (don't do it yourself - it's messy & smelly!) & if it's a sore bum, rub a little sudocrem or vaseline on it & that should help.

Re: Deworming problem?
Stop worrying, as caryll says milbemax dissolves them, it is a very good wormer. He may not have even had worms, he may have had anal glad that wsnt squeezed or may just have had an itchy bum!

Re: Deworming problem?
Thank you guys for your answers, he hasn't been butting or running his bum since yesterday and if Milbemax dissolves the worms like you guys said that might be why he hasn't pooed a lot since he only poos once or twice a day.
