Other Dogs
Hi
I have heard that Staffys dont get along with other dogs? As I have only had Ozzy for a very short time, i really need to know what to do as this bit of history on him is missing. When we are out he raises up on his hind legs, barks a lot and growls a bit? but i havent dared to get close to any yet in case he eats them
My mum has a labrador bitch and is visiting me for a couple of days in December, apart from keeping them in seperate rooms, i would really like to know if a) Ozzy does get along with other dogs and b) how tpo introduce them and make sure it is safe?
Thanks
Sara

Re: Other Dogs
Try to introduce Ozzy to other dogs with them both still on their leads, at least to begin with, you can then keep in control should either react to each other. Staffys will get along with other dogs usually OK so long as they are well socialised.
As for your Mums lab try to introduce them to each other on neutral ground ie: at a local park, if you can first before they share the house.

Re: Other Dogs
Introduce them somewhere neutral, not at home and have both dogs on lead when introducing. Go slowly and calmly as if it is the most natural thing and try not to worry. Have a read of this and learn your dogs body language so you can have some insight into what his body is saying and how he is feeling about the situation

Re: Other Dogs
Simple facts and this is for all dogs not just staffys. Never assume they will get along with all dogs and always exercise caution . Let them have their first meetings on lead and keep a good distance so they can't lunge at each other . Gradually you will see if they are settling and make adjustments. Always a good idea to walk together first before an introduction on home soil as well

Re: Other Dogs
Agree with the advice given. Pay attention to body language as well. Here is a link that will help.

Re: Other Dogs
Miley can't get enough doggy company she is terrible at running to other dogs wanted or not. It's only when the other dog has a snap at her does she leave and then she will go back again just to make sure
