Lola's nails
Got an issue with Lola's nails. I don't know if it's cos she is white or a coincidence. her nails grow very quickly and they need trimmed now and again whereas Lily's just wear naturally from walking. She has been out a lot recently with my son on his bike so she has done a lot of running on the road, lily has also done the road running but lola's nails look a bit smashed in. I have noticed this when she has been scrambling on rocks at the beach. They haven't been trimmed recently and I had noticed a few days ago they were long. Any advice please?

Rocky has his nails clipped at a local dog training centre that has a grooming parlour attached. They are done about every 3 months or when they appear to need doing.

Re: Lola's nails
we took miley to a groomers last weekend as we thought her claws were long. Thy said in the shop her nails were fine and they just trimmed her dew claws. Her nails appear broken too

Re: Lola's nails
On occasion Diesels nails have appeared splintered but mainly if she's been on tough ground or at the beach (sea water n salt drys them out)
With Tank, his nails have never needed trimming, only the dew claws. (pesky things)
I've actually got a doggy nail file which I use on diesel now n then.

Re: Lola's nails
We have to trim Suki's every couple of months and her dew claws a little more frequently

Funny. My whites grow faster than my red's. I have always assumed it is more just an individual thing though. Some grow faster than others.

Re: Lola's nails
I never connected the nails with being white.
Macy is white too and she as well has very long nails but hers are very resistent.
It was actually the vet that durin g a check up noticed they were too long and starting to curl up and trimmed them.
I just keep an eye on them so they don't get to the point where they curl up again.

Re: Lola's nails
My OH normally clips them if need be, they just seem to grow quicker but damage easily than Lilys. They are translucent with a very pink quick.
