Whats the difference..
I was just wondering if Omega 3 is similar to Salmon Oil ..
I give Inca & Sky Omega 3 daily mainly for their coats but every now an then i put in a few drops of Salmon Oil in their food aswell... Am i wasting my time an money and should i just give either Omega 3 or just Salmon Oil.
They have always had Omega 3 and i heard Salmon Oil (from F4D) was excellent for bringing condition back to their coats (both my girls have had coat issue's ) but touch wood their coats are AOK..
What are your thoughts peeps.. x

Re: Whats the difference..
Omega 3 is an essential fatty acid. They are good for a dogs coat as well as their joint health. Salmon oil also contains essential fatty acids and I believe also has omega 3 in it. So stopping the supplement should be okay is you are feeding the oil every day. If not maybe just give the supplement on the days you don't feed the oil.
I'm not an expert on dog nutrition but do know alot about human nutrition so I think they are about the same.

Re: Whats the difference..
I give salmon oil, but no seperate omega oils. Dempsey's skin & coat's very good in a breed that's known to have skin problems. Whether that's connected or not, I don't know!
I think Ella also gives vitamin E with the salmon oil.

Rockys Barking Heads kibble contains omega 3 and omega 6, lots of people have commented on his shiny glossy coat which does look good.

Salmon oil is omega 3 yes, you can also get omega 6 oils which are in various vegetables and seeds. and omega 9 but I don't actually know much about these! Take a look at this:

Re: Whats the difference..
I get sardines or mackerel for the girls, give it 2 or 3 times a week. Lilys coat is lovely and shiny. You can't really tell with Lola being white. My daughter uses coconut oil on her hair and she always gives the dogs a spoonful and they love it. You can get a big jar for about 1.50. She has just started giving them it and I can see a difference in the last couple of weeks.
