Feeding
Hi
My dogs 22 months now and need some opinions on feeding. Ive had her on 3 food types james wellbeloved puppy she ate it but only when she really had to i felt so changed her to beta and she was on that for a while but found she gained a good bit weight and pooped about 4 times a day so decided to try burns and shes been on that for about 6 months at least now. When she started burns i gave her the recommended amount and she dropped weight so what Ive done is i get a 2kg a week and split it evenly works out about 300g per day and still i think shes to thin. Her stats are 19.8 kg 19" tall PS vet said "keep her this weight and I'll be happy"
I'LL post some pics below Cheers

Re: Feeding
She is NOT thin people are used to seeing fat dogs, i would not want any more weight on here at all.

Re: Feeding
Hi thanks for the replies. I read somewhere if you can see the spine and ribs this is to thin and i can see a bit of her spine and ribs. I just thought maybe she could do with a few extra pounds?

Re: Feeding
What a gorgeous dog! As Ella says - she doesn't look thin at all and we do see so many fat dogs that it almost becomes "normal". Your vet is spot on.
Oh, and btw I don't take any notice of the amounts that food manufacturers advise to feed, it is always too much (well, they would - wouldn't they ?)

Re: Feeding
Hi thanks for the tip on the pics. Yeah i think i,ll just stick to the 2kg a week and see how we get on shes been getting around 300g per day for a few weeks now. Do you guys think shes still got some filling out to do? Shes my first staff so nothing to compare with.

Re: Feeding
It's difficult because different people have different ideas. Personally I don't like to see the spine, but that's just me.
If you are happy with her weight, she's fit & healthy, then stick with that!

Re: Feeding
She still has some puppy flab behind the neck and stuff thats why i ask if she could still fill out. Her mum and dad weren't the stockiest.

Re: Feeding
It's personal choice how lean you like a dog.
I purposely keep my dogs lean enough to see their ribs as to ME that's how a dog should look but that's isn't to everyones taste

Re: Feeding
She looks good to me .. though I dont think you should be able to see the spine either .. the last two ribs yes, but not the spine IMO
and yes she will deffo still fill out a bit at 22mths, though she does look like a taller and slender girl so prob wont be that wide specially if mom and dad arnt typically stocky .. she has gorgeous big brown eye's
