Post by Ticklymac Fri Nov 09 2012, 16:41

Does anyone else dog get more hyper the more they are exercised?
I've just had Diesel out for just under 2hrs, just over an hour off lead up the woods/park and 20mins walking there 20mins back, and instead of coming home and collapsing on the couch (like i did) she decided to take a burn out - darting across the living room like a loon, round in circles, up on the couch, growling and barking away to herself, and still as a sit typing she's she rolling around on her back growling away and chasing her tail!
Seems to be everytime i take her for a longer than usual walk shes goes mental either when we're still out or when we get in!

longer is better but you have to do it everyday 2/3 times a day.

Bandit used to be the same - they always seem to save a little bit of energy for when you get back & just want to sit with your feet up & have a nice cup of tea! Laughing

I had just got back from a 45 minute walk with Rocky and we both curled up on the sofa for half an hour, love those afternoon cuddles. He does usually have a mental minute though just chose not to today Laughing

I used to take Moo out for 5hour romps, when we get home she is straight into the toy box and I get a toy thrust in my lap, if ignored she will proceed to have zoomies round and round the lounge, its very funny, there just nutters Laughing

The more they enjoy it the more they need that extra burn out I think, we have had an hour and half this pm and still had twenty minutes of play bowing and jumping around in front of me. I'm cream crackered! Luckily he's konked now Love Struck

Loki doesn't go hyperactive anymore, but he doesn't get tired and sleep either like everyone else's dogs. He seems to force himself awake; you see his eyes almost closed and he's keeping himself awake like a weirdo Laughing. He used to have a mad moment when we came back though, then he'd relax or wander about for no reason at all. They're weird Big Grin

Bis does this too.. even after a 4 hour walk she will come home and throw herself around the house for 15 minutes.. running up and down the stairs.. throwing her toys in the air.. and occasionally taking my legs out in the midst of it all Laughing

diesel does that too, you can see her struggling to keep her eyes open but if there is anything at all going on ie/ not just lying perfectly still watching tele she'll keep herself awake - dare not miss a thing

Yep, percy is also guilty of the "I've just had the best walk of my life, but now I'm gonna get every toy out and jump on and off of everything in the house" moments Laughing

Roxy does the same. If she's had a bit of extra exercise she takes herself off for the zoomies around the garden, chases cats, jumps and generally goes nuts. Gotta love em!

They all have a little whirlwind in them they have to get out lol , my 2 do a cpl Laps of the entire downstairs jumping over anything in the way - it's demented but funny, then they collapse in a heap n snooze.

Ahhh, memories........

We used to take Bandit for extra long weekend walks, the sunday one was often all around the city of london - nobody around on a sunday. We'd walk for maybe 4 or 5 hours & he'd sleep in the car on the way home (only Ealing at the time, so about 10 minutes), then as soon as we got home he'd be ready for another walk & whizzing around the house!! Laughing
