Re: new problem ....post op aggression
I'd imagine it's due to pain tbh. That coupled with being a teenager ofc.
Just keep him calm, see how he goes, sorry I don't have any other suggestions x

Re: new problem ....post op aggression
hopefully the pain will stop soon .... when they fight they are very easy to seperate ... just pull them both up with their collars and they stop ..... ive just read that for 24 hours after anesthetic they can be more aggressive so that may be part of it .... letting him sleep it off seems like a good plan ... ill give him an early night soon

Re: new problem ....post op aggression
Yeah, just let him sleep and rest up, and keep them separate for a little while maybe so as not to cause any injury to himself. Probably just feeling a bit grumpy.

Re: new problem ....post op aggression
hope he gets better soon,it might be the pain thats causing him to be off with your other dog, keep them apart if you can for a day or so just in case he over does it and hurts himself.

4.5 months is very young for neutering - what was his temperament like with your dog & dogs in general before? Was he a very confident pup or a nervous one?
You won't know if it's the anaesthetic until it wears off, I'm afraid - usually about 24 hours.

Re: new problem ....post op aggression
Then it's probably the anaesthetic - he'll feel confused & a little poorly (I doubt he's in much pain as the anaesthetic will still be working through his system) & will just want to chill out & sleep.
The problems will come with trying to keep him quiet over the next week or so!

Pleased to hear that Boris is back to his usual self and the aggression has subsided. Good luck with trying to keep him calm, a stuffed Kong may help with this.

Sorry to be a pain, but be careful with rawhide. It swells in the stomach & with a Stafford, their jaws/teeth are so strong that they chew off large lumps which can cause a blockage.
A stag bar is a much better alternative.

Re: new problem ....post op aggression
Oh, I'm not saying that every dog that has them will have problems! Just be aware that they can cause problems.
I won't buy them at all, and if people give me any for Dempsey I usually throw them away when they're not looking.

He will prob stay grumpy if you go near that region even though there is nothing there so dont worry to much if you get a grumble and he runs off if you get to close...phantom ball syndrome...bless em
