1st time staff owner!

Hi Everyone!

My husband and I picked up our new doggy, Skeelo, on Friday afternoon. He is 1 yr 9 months and is a real teenager... He loves to lie on top of both of us on the sofa, but does know the sit and stay command. However, he is dreadful at countersurfing and jumping up at doors (think his previous owner taught him how to open as she was paralysed).

Does anyone have any tips on how to stop them from countersurfing, begging and jumping up at doors? He is getting a little better - we don't want to reward bad behaviour by giving him attention, so are trying to ignore him and reward when he has all 4 paws on the ground.

Any help greatly received!

You'll get plenty of tips on the training, but I'd recommend you start a new thread in our training forum. You'll get more people seeing it there!

well you are off to a good start , a firm no is the best way forward and concentrating on sit / stay . As you say already 4 paws on the ground and reward the good behaviour. Begging I have to confess I haven't mastered with Tommy yet as he will force his way through your legs and next thing you know there is a mose on your lap whilst trying to eat your tea

Hello and welcome, I have a little horror who does that as well, never get it from Enzo, always Enya, I have to believe that you just get some dogs who will try it, our problem was she managed to succeed and ate a load of cheese and crackers, since then its been game on, I'm trying to persist with what Dave has suggested but shes crafty!!!
