Re: washing the pup
I prefer to bathe any dog as rarely as possible, and especially puppies. Their skin can be quite sensitive & too much washing can dry their skin & make it itchy.
When I do bathe them I always use a dog shampoo because the ph levels in a dog's skin is different to a human's. I like to use an oatmeal shampoo with a spray on oatmeal skin conditioner afterwards.
Dempsey gets around 2 or 3 baths a year maximum.

I don't think I ever washed scrumps (my first), Moo gets a rinse when she has been swimming under the shower but I don't use shampoo

Re: washing the pup
We just give Rocky a rinse in the shower once or twice a year, no shampoo.

I only bathe in summer when her winter coat is coming out, gets rid of it a bit faster and gives her a pamper session.

Re: washing the pup
I washed Hiccup around 4 months, just to get him used to being bathed - as there are times where it might be necessary and then its easier if they're used to it. I just used a very mild shampoo safe for puppies.
But I wouldn't make it a regular thing. Hiccup's unfortunately had to have a few now due to a bacterial infection on top of his skin infection but rather leave it for as long as possible.
Strangely enough, the more your wash them (which strips off the natural oils), the more they smell and the more frequently you have to wash them. Its a vicious cycle!

Re: washing the pup
We gave Loki a bath not long after we got him, purely to get him used to water and see how he'd respond to it (loves it ). We've given him a tub of water since then, but to play in, not for bathing. They don't need baths often, just give him a little rinse if he gets dirty, otherwise there's no need for it often.

I find it hard to keep Steffi out of the shower I know its no good for her so i have to fight her out of the bathroom every night.. But I did find when she had a few showers she did scratch even though I know she dosen't have fleas..
