Stolen Staffs
We Have been having loads of staffs stolen from gardens in the S.Wales area recently, chipped ones too and unless they are scanned no one is the wiser that a particular dog has been stolen.. I have a 13 week old staffy and being so worried she'l disapear have to stand out the garden if she goes out there.. my question is... if i loose my iphone i can track it to where it is.... why cant they do that in a dogs microchip as well???

Re: Stolen Staffs
Hi and welcome from Kia and me,
that is a very good question, i presume it would make a microchip a lot more expensive to manufacture if it had GPS,
i know that you can get a GPS collar so you can track your dog, but they are also quite expensive and would not be any good if it was stolen as the collar could just be removed. ask at your vets they may be able to find out for you,
hope this is of help.

Re: Stolen Staffs
Hello and welcome from me and the kids
Personally if I went to the vet and he offered me a GPS chip for a £100 instead of a normal chip for £20 I would take it every time . It has to be a great idea and can only assume that it's been thought of already but who knows. The uses are endless. If they had identification feedback to units then dog wardens and police could make great use of them , owners would have great peace of mind and it could be a massive step forward in dog control
